The Zen of YUM!
I'm old. That simple fact finely sank into my head the day I realized that I was using my grocery cart as a walker and that even if I only had one bag of groceries, I wheeled it out across the parking lot in the cart and then secretly parked the empty cart close to my car. Getting old sucks. Lack of muscle strength and impaired balance- Reduced eyesight, blood flow, digestion, lung capacity, the list goes on and on. I realized that I had been slowly limiting activities. No more climbing on the ladder to clean the gutters, it makes me cringe just to think about it.I'm not one to, "go gentle into that good night," nope, I'm going kicking and screaming and this protein powder is part of my plan. After reading about a dozen medical abstracts on the physiological changes that occur when you age, I realized that all of those things I mentioned above have something in common. It's about the reduction of the lining of every blood vessel and organ in your body. The epithelial layer and it's made up of your fastest growing cells. To keep those cells coming and to increase muscle mass, you need protein. Probably more than you're getting right now. I know I wasn't getting enough. As you know, Amazon is always running new things you might like in front of you. That's how I found this product. The first thing I liked about it was the fact that the cows speak English - yipppeeeee! Before you get your PC tail feathers in a knot, what that means is the whey is actually from this country and that means I don't have to worry about my kidneys turning into a couple of Melmac plates because some idiot in China decided to add melamine to increase the protein content. Those, "Made in America," stamps on the side of your supplement bottles mean nothing except that the ingredients, many of which are from other countries, were simply assembled in this country. so, English speaking cows are good. They eat grass! This means they're not chowing down on the corn of a modified plant. You know, the one that killed the Monarch butterflies? Nope, they're just grazing along in California - Probably learning some yoga moves from their handlers and listening to some Zenny music in the milking shed. This stuff tastes great! (no, not like chicken) kind of like slightly sweet cream. I haven't tried it but, I think if you added it to orange juice, it would taste like a 50/50 bar. It also dissolves beautifully. I add it to the last six ounces of my coffee that has cream and sweetener in it. One day I realized that I had only about three ounces of the coffee left and I thought, what the heck, go for it and I dumped a big scoopful in and it disappeared into the liquid and stirred right up.So, whether you're young and trying to build muscle mass or old and just trying to hang on to what you've got, I highly recommend this product. Next month I'm going the gym. I have a medicare plan that pays for it and I'm on it. So all you seniors, get off your butt and save yourselves and I'll see you at the gym. I'll be the one pushing the stolen grocery cart.UPDATE!Well, I got my swagger back and the cart has been returned to the store. That may not seem like a big deal but it is. It's hard to swagger when you're bent over peering at the ground, watching for any objects that might trip you up. Walking carefully, checking your balance and staying close to something large enough to catch yourself with. Nope. No swagger there. So, like I said, I started going to the gym in December. I told the owner that I wanted to be able to walk in a straight line, to not fall down and if I did, I wanted to be able to get up. She showed me an assortment of machines and exercises that would strengthen the muscles that are used for balance, (and the getting up thing) and I hit it with a vengeance. When I look back, I probably went a little overboard and it's been a gradual learning process. When I first started the only muscles I knew about were the ones in the meat department. When I looked at myself in that AWFUL wall to wall mirror, I could identify the rump roast but no matter which way I turned, I couldn't see anything that resembled a New York strip but I've come a long way since then. Medical research is showing that the loss of muscle mass that we have so long accepted in seniors can actually be reversed. Not by waving your arms in the air like a Butterfly, by weight and resistance training. You must push the muscles right to the point of causing tiny bits of damage and that alerts the body to direct blood and protein to the site for repair and enlargement.Protein, protein, protein! You gotta have it. I was right about that much! I have been religiously drinking my whey protein all along. Some say before the workout, some say after. I do mine after but whenever you decide, just do it because your body will cannibalize itself to repair and build muscle. The other really cool result from drinking all that protein is that, for the first time in my life, I have long fingernails!! Not the wimpy, break immediately, kind - The flip a pop top on a can of soda kind AND hair! Lots of it growing in.. Who knew?!? The most amazing thing was the day I realized that I had walked across the parking lot, to the store, without thinking about it. Next? Dancing!!So now I not only know my rump roast, I know that the muscle between that and my waist is what helps keep me balanced. I know that the quads are not something you drive on the beach and I know that Jane Fonda, the workout queen, sold us out in the last last season of Frankie and Grace with that stupid episode with them falling and laying on the floor for hours, waiting for their ex husbands to come rescue them. After all my work, I was standing, yelling at the screen, "Get up! Just GET UP!!!"So, keep it coming, Cow Ladies! I got to mooove it on down the road and Jane?? Call me. I have an idea for your last workout program.

An excellent pure protein powder without all the additives and artificial junk added like other protein powders
I really like the fact that this protein powder has no artificial sweeteners - and no artificial anything - and without a long list of other ingredients I don't want. I was about to give up looking for one that is as pure as this one. This powder mixes well with 2% lactose-free milk, which is my liquid of choice for protein drinks. The taste is fine on its own, but I like to enhance it with Ovaltine, which also provides 12 essential vitamins and minerals that it contains. I switched to this whey protein from using pea protein powder. This Pure Whey powder is much better, because it has no artificial sweeteners that I think are potentially harmful, so I steer clear of them. When I first started using it, I thought it may be causing intestinal upset, but I know now that it doesn't, so there's no problem there either. I highly recommend this protein powder for everyone. One other thing: most all protein powders have a disclaimer that they are not for weight loss programs. This protein powder doesn't mention it one way or another, but for me, it dampens my appetite by satisfying my hunger, so I have been losing weight by using it, which is a plus If used as a meal replacement, it will obviously help you lose weight as it only has 122 calories per its 77cc scoop of powder, which is quite obviously a lot less than a normal meal and considerably less than a junk food meal. If you're using protein powders for whatever reason, try this one. - I think you'll be very glad you did. Also; I've attached a photo of the protein powder mixed in a blender bottle. I've tried several blender bottles and this one is the very best I've found. And it's quite simply called; the Blender Bottle. You should be able to find it on Amazon or at most places that sell such things. I highly recommend it too.

Simply the best
Been using whey for years. Used to used the cheapest stuff I could find. Then I realized almost half of what I was paying for (by weight) was artificial flavors, colors, sugar, and almost anything but protein. Look at the serving size in grams and look how many grams of protein you get per serving. If it's not 80-90% protein by weight you're not getting your money's worth.I searched for a while for unflavored whey without any added sugar or sweeteners. Grass fed was a bonus. I found many are boutique offerings that make overblown claims and charge outrageous prices. This Pure Whey from Pure Label Nutrition seemed to hit the sweet spot for no junk added whey per dollar.I'm on probably my fifth 5lb tub, I'm convinced this is one of the best available Whey Proteins around. Mixed well, has a mild milky whey taste, no sugar, it's just great.I did get one batch that tasted odd, it was darker in color, almost yellow. I get it, this happens, it's made from a natural product after all, there's going to be some variability. I contacted Pure Label Nutrition and they were insanely responsive, got it replaced asap, no questions asked. I sent them photos showing the color differences in the one lot and they forwarded it on to QC. They followed up after to make sure everything was good. Refreshingly good customer service.Despite one bad batch, I'm still convinced this is the best no junk added whey for the money.

Mixes kind of badly, but is still a good deal
For about $1 per serving, it's a pretty good deal for a whey powder that is just whey and, considering I got vanilla, a flavored powder that does not use any artificial sweeteners. Mixing this with powdered peanuts makes for a good shake with decent fiber and about 30g of protein (24g whey + 6g peanut). However, I always get lumps if I stir by hand. This is definitely something that needs to be put into a blender if you want it completely smooth.Still, it's a good product with good nutrition.
