Good Quality & easy to install as a replacement
Good Quality (4/5) easy to install as a replacement. The latch is neither smooth nor sharp, quality is slightly inferior to 10 year old Latch being replaced. But specification seems exact and comes with a choice of Chrome or gold Plates with choice of matching screws. A very good DIY replacement latch, delivered within a few days of ordering. Would buy again & recommend - thank you.

very sturdy
Have ordered 2 of these and both times the delivery was quick. These are very sturdy replacements for my worn latches., supplied with a generous supply of screws and choice of brass or stainless steel fittings. The shank is ever so slightly bigger than my originals, so needed to make the housing slightly bigger, but not a major job. My doors now close with a definite clunk. Would not hesitate to order again.

Does the job. Unsprung door handles now work just as they should.
Excellent! This does exactly the job I needed it to. I have a couple of pairs of lovely old brass door handles whose springs had long since given up the struggle. They were looking all wonky with the standard latch that I had salvaged from the old door, so I needed something stronger. This fits the bill exactly. It has a double-sprung action so that although the door handles have a much firmer spring, the latch bolt doesn't have a stronger action than the normal one, so that when you close the door it doesn't make an almighty clunk; it just sounds and feels normal. The handles now line up just as they should, but it's not more effortful than it should be to turn them; only as much as you would expect from sprung handles. I had to open out the central mortice hole a bit, but not much, as the barrel is bigger than the old one, and the bit around the hole needed to be chiselled out a bit more as the face plate is bigger too. It took me a while to figure out how to reverse the bolt, but in fact it just rotates: I was looking for a more complex solution. All you have to do it just hold the end of the bolt and rotate it through 180 degrees. The end result is that my gorgeous old brass door handles look just as they should. Job's a good 'un.

Great Latch.
I bought this latch as I wanted to see how good it was and would consider bying more if irt was OK. Well, it's great. Very well made and relatively easy to fit (you may need to slightly enlarge the hole with a chisel). Instructions were good and easy to follow. Having fitted it and I can say is it does what is should and does it very well. Before I bought this I checked out a number of others both in shops and in the internet - this one appears to be onre of the best and the price, although a little higher than some, reflects the build quality. I've now ordered three more of these.

Cheap Latch
They were a direct replacement for my knackered locks. I went to a professional locksmith initially. He told me these locks were unique and be very difficult to source in the UK. Found them on Amazon quite easily and because they were cheap, I bought a batch. Don't think I would use them in a virgin installation - but good replacements. They were easy to fit.

and I can easily order replacements
Hi, Just to put several years of experience using these latches here. I built my house and have 12 internal doors all with heavy duty satin stainless steel door furniture that needed heavy duty latches. I carefully researched these and decided they would do the job. I can now say that after less than five years I have had my 4th one fail, that is 4 out of 12 (33% failure rate). Bare in mind they have a 10 year mechanical guarantee. However, I still give these 4 stars because I haven't got the time to source other ones, I know know the failure rate, and I can easily order replacements, and let's face it they ain't that expensive, and they do the job, just not for life! You might not have as heavy door handles as mine, so you might fair better. When my first 2 failed a couple of years ago I began to suspect more might fail and so bought another two and waited. Now I am about to installed the last replacement and am going to order some more. But, I am now going to send the actual latest failed latch back to the manufacturer, watch this space, and ask for my money back, etc. I respect the 5 stars everyone else has given, but it would be good to see any updates and any other fails. Thinking about it now, I think my door furniture also came for Eurospec (I'll check), so you would think they would have their failure rates well sorted to offer a 10 year guarantee!
