Rohrer & Klingner *since 1892* Fountain Pen Ink - Iron/Gall Nut Ink "Salix" - indelible 50ml

I have been looking for ink that will not wash away if someone accidentally pours water onto a record sheet (i.e. hospital record). This is it! The ink has a nice blue-black coloration and works well in my Lamy 2000 pen. Most of the other colours do not have the iron/gall permanent feature, but I hope to try them soon too, because they are interesting colours.

This is a repeat of the "Scabiosa" review, with "blue" in place of "purple" - they are both equally delicious to use. SUPERB ink. Really delightful to use, thin but solid colour. It flows off of even a super fine nib so well... but not TOO well. And if, like me, you also use a water-brush with your inks.. This dissolves and spreads to the most gorgeous wash colour. Starting from the base strokes it becomes a mid that fades to a pale purple then into a baby-blue wash. NB - the strength of colour for this blue is less than the "Scabiosa" purple - that starts dark and washes to a light transparent mauve - this ink starts off mid-dark-blue and washes to paler blues. Not a complaint, just a note. The true beauty of it is this - unlike many water soluble inks (which tend to be too soluble and water destroys the base lines), this ink leaves you with your original line work that blends into the most delicate wash you could ask for... instant 3D texturing, fading from the original mid-deep-blue to the paler colour as you wash further away from the stokes.

Next to Roehrer & Klingner's Scabiosa ink, this is the best fountain pen ink I have ever come across. I have no qualms issuing it with Five Stars. This and Scabiosa are the best fountain pen inks on the market. Water resistant. Flows without any issues. And with NO strike through on bad paper such as Moleskine.

the colour of this ink is great so unlike anything else really , its is an iron/Gall ink so it is water resistant ,those who are frightened by Iron / Gall don't be I have found no issue with this ink in normal use wonderful colour great flow as with all Rohrer and Klinger inks that I have tried very nice

I have always (13 years) used moleskine diary's but although they suite my needs the paper is shockingly thin and rubbish .Fine for a biro or gel pen. However I like fountain pens so using one was nigh on impossible with collosal bleed thru and spidering (bleed across the paper). In a review elsewhere I heard of this ink . Initially the cost was a bit of a issue as 'what if its no better ' Well its excellent . I can write on the moleskine toilet paper and there is NO bleedthrough at all and no spidering . I have four fountain pens and even the wide nibbed one which puts a lot of ink out is fine so for all intents and purposes this ink is perfect for my needs Also its a bit of a novelty as it starts light blue and after about a minute it darkens to a royal blue as it has iron in it which reacts with the air and the paper apparently.

I needed a dry waterproof ink for writing on cheap paper, as standard copy paper or Moleskine. It doesn't write good on fine paper (as Clairefontaine) but work a little bit better on Tomoe River using Pilot 912 but better than Diamine Registars. Fine with Lamy Safari. Waterproof in 5 minutes after written and put under shower for 90 seconds. Turns to darker blue in several of hours, or days).

Sono anni che utilizzo questo inchiostro, insieme al vezzoso "scabiosa". Il "salix" ha un colore più adatto anche ad un uso professionale (documenti, firme, assegni etc.) con belle sfumature azzurre che si accentuano con un pennino generoso nell'erogazione. Con l'ossidazione il colore tende a scurirsi in un paio di minuti. I pur meravigliosi pennini giapponesi extrafini, forse non sono i più adatti a rendere giustizia a questo inchiostro di alta qualità. Suggerisco un medio europeo (Montblanc, Waterman, Parker...) americano (Sheaffer, specialmente le antiche) oppure il medio della Twsbi, ottimo ed economico. Rimane sempre fluido e scorrevole, ed il pennino non si inceppa anche dopo molti giorni. Attenzione che è veramente un inchiostro indelebile: sulla carta, sui vestiti e sulle dita...Dopo anni di utilizzo non ho notato alcun danno ai pennini o a stantuffi e serbatoi, cosa che mi aveva preoccupato, in considerazione della composizione dell'inchiostro e del valore delle penne utilizzate. In ultimo, trovo la forma della boccetta sobria ed elegante, con un adorabile stile "vintage" dell'etichetta. Rapporto prezzo qualità eccezionale, spedizione rapida, imballaggio appena sufficiente ad evitare disastri.

This is my new favourite ink!!! The shading is amazing. It shows through even on cheap copy paper. I’ve tried it on my fountain pen with fine nib, as well as on a quill pen with a medium/broad nib (see photo) and the ink just looks so sooo good. The color is like a dark shade of periwinkle, like a muted purplish blue of sorts. I highly recommend this ink. 10/10.

Very nice waterproof blue-black ink. The color darkens to the color as seen on bottle. Well lubricated and not too dry with Lamy F nib. Highly recommended

Salixは使い易いBlue-Blackのインク。万年筆の標準色だが、これのインクはとても綺麗な濃淡を示す。青、紺色系は、たくさんのメーカーからインクが発売されているが、その中でも書き味、文字の微妙な色合いの美しさ、そして、裏写りの少なさについては、今まで使ってきたインクの中でもトップレベルではないか。とても気に入ったので、仕事でメインに使っている146に入れることにした。
