LAMY safari Medium Nib Fountain Pen with Converter Z28 Pink

These inexpensive lamy pens are fantastic. Right size. Fit well in the hand. Reasonably smooth writer. Be sure to select the right ink and paper. These pens are best with a "slicker" ink, such as Waterman, Aurora, or Lamy's more recent Crystal ink series, such as Azurite (deep blue/purple).

If you are a beginner or someone more familiar with fountain pens, this is a great pen to get started with or try something new. This pen is lightweight coming in at .6 oz. It is 5.5 inches long with lid closed and 6.5 inches with lid posted, the lid is also snap cap. The nib is steel and you can change the nib and the body of the pen is resin/plastic and a matte finish. You can use Lamy cartridges or converters for different ink. Its a nice solid pen, has smooth movement across paper and is easily one of my more durable pens that I own and use daily. When compared to my Pilot metropolitan or Jinhao dragon pen I feel like it is a nice medium between weight, writing and quality. Always a nice addition to the fountain pen collection as well.I've read concerns from other reviewers specifically for this seller that made statements these are fake Lamy safari fountain pens (I went ahead and took the risk with this seller because I knew it was going to take several weeks before I could get the pen from a pen company I trust (GPC) because they were closed due to Covid-19) and it is a legitimate concern that I see asked on most pens, given they have a high rate of counterfeit and knock off versions. These pens however are not fake and it was apparent the person was not familiar with Lamy manufacturing process and key features of real pens vs. fake. I hope the information below will help folks feel more confident in their Lamy safari ventures whether you get your pens from this seller or another seller.Information on how to best spot a real vs. fake Lamy Safari fountain pen- A real Lamy pen will come inside two boxes. A black Lamy box and a silver Lamy box. (Granted some special editions may have a special box or packaging, however its your lucky day because there is more than one way to verify a genuine Lamy safari pen!)- Your pen will be found to have a cardboard ring with "remove" on it to separate the barrel from fully being attached (older pens had writing on the inside as well, but newer ones do not have the writing on the inside of the cardboard ring)- You will have a blue ink cartridge inside, it does not come with a converter (it is very rare that it will unless you order it with it separately)- Your new Lamy pen will probably show some blue ink (This is not a indication it was a used and returned pen) it is due to the fact that part of Lamy's manufacturing process before shipping is testing the pen with blue ink- The Lamy logo will be clearly seen at the end of your pen (Fakes will not be as pronounced), will have "Germany" on the bottom of the pen and have a cross or plus indention with a small hole in the top or finial of the lid (Older versions was just a filled in circle with the small hole)-When you attach your barrel you will be able to see through the window (where you see the ink cartridge) of your pen no matter how you put your barrel on. Fake pens you typically will have issues with this and have parts that block this window.-The O-ring around the barrel will come off easily on a fake-There will be some scratch-If its really scratchy or ink is not flowing well, look closely (preferably with magnifying glass) to see if the nib tines are misaligned. There may also be the factor of how you are holding the pen as well. Also the writing on the nib is pronounced and has Lamy and the size on the nib as wellAnd guess what folks, these pens passed the test!

When people think about fountain pens they may feel they are out of date, expensive, and hard to use. The Lamy was so incredibly easy to put together and immediately start writing with it. It feels comfortable in my hand and the ink flows well from it. I highly recommend this pen to a beginner. I am a purpleologist and had to have this pen when I saw it in a subscription box review on you tube! Get this pen you won’t regret it!!!

These Lamy Safari pens are my favorite refillable fountain pens. I have purchased (or been gifted) five or six of them. I prefer a medium nib, which sometimes narrows the choice of barrel color but not a major problem. I usually buy a barrel somewhat close to the color ink that I'm using.

I would have liked a fine nib, even super fine if made. Most paper made now doesnʻt take lots of ink so it blots through with large and medium nibs for most fountain pens. Also like some art fountain pens, fine nibs can be used for drawing, sketching, and design not just writing instruments but multi-media instruments.

-Update-The quality of this pen is still great, I have had no issues in that department, but in the meantime I have found that you can get this pen for much cheaper (and occasionally buy one get one free as well) on other fountain pen selling websites.-original review-The lamy candy series is a great collectible fountain pen. Lamy safari is always a good choice for steel nib fountain pens and the candy series are great vibrant colors.

Love my Lamy fountain pens. This one is my favorite because of the color & the textured body.

This was my introductory fountain pen, and it's absolutely wonderful. I ended up moving to a fine tip after I got the hang of this one, but I love it regardless. I'd definitely recommend to anyone trying to get into calligraphy or lettering.
