Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition

Finally the mystery of Babaji's life is solved. (And yes, this book is certainly about the Babaji of Autobiography of a Yogi.) A whole world of Siddha masters was opened to me that I was previously unaware of. A life changing, paradigm shifting, mind blowing book.

As a student and seeker, this book gave me the missing link information I was looking for. Sri Krishna taught Arjuna via secret initiation into the secrets of Kriya Yoga, a powerful technique that literally transforms the practioneer into a self realized saint completely surrendered to the infinite awareness. Krishna is the name of the Avatar of GOD that incarnated over 5,000 years ago and introduced Kriya Yoga, the science of self realization to mankind through Arjuna. This knowledge is kept alive through the millienea through master teacher lineages that are kept and recorded in India. When Jesus/Issa/Yeshua left home and traveled to India he knew exactly what he was looking for. There was a knowledge in India that would unlock who he was and allow him to accomplish his mission in that lifetime. By being the Avatar of GOD in the flesh at that time, after traveling to India and meeting the Guru who kept the knowledge sacred and hidden from the world, Yeshua learned the very secrets introduced to the world 5,000 years ago by KRISHNA. I learned about Babaji when I read The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. Which to me is one of the most uplifting books I have ever read. It changed my life because it inspired me to desire a close and intimate relationship with God. So when I discovered that "Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition" was still in print I had to have it also. Now I am seriously considering becoming a vegetarian so i can prepare my temple for initiation in Kriya Yoga some day. The reason this book is so profound is simply this. Jesus/Yeshua came claiming to know the way to GOD the Father. He did not openly teach this knowledge but clothed it in parable. Yet, in private he taught his disciples this ancient knowledge. The proof the knowledge works is in the lives of the 18 Immortal Siddhas. Babaji accomplished the exact same thing Jesus/Yeshua did, and according to Paramahansa Yogananda, practised the same Yoga Christ Taught his disciples. And, apparently it works. The author has written a scholarly history of the siddhas and Babaji that is astoundingly accurate. Insodoing he also offers helpful insight into some of today's vexing health problems, i.e. he reflects the anxient finding that senility is caused by the lack of a specific hormone. He also gives feet to much of the history reported by Sri M (I describe it this way simply because I had read Sri M's material first). For those who have no idea that Babaji is still alive and bearing witness to the Lord's evolutionary plan for this planet, you would do well to read and enjoy this book.

This book really opened my eyes. Although I had been to India several times and read various scriptures like the Gita and Bhagavantam, and others for years, I had no idea of what was possible with Babaji's Kriya Yoga before reading this book. I intend pursuing the study of this Yoga and hope in the future to practice with a true master. The world owes a debt to Marshall Govindan and others who have written about this most important tradition.

Very good book about origins of Hindu Shaivite Tantra, specifically Kriya yoga of Immortality, that is the transformation of the physical body into a divine body via specific yogic techniques developed in ancient India (especially Kumar Nadu, the sunken portion of the continent(s) which once connected Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu, Australia, and Africa (Mu and Lemuria) and continued today through the Avatar Babaji, his gurus and disciples.

Very well written. The author has spent many years in india and has taken time to learn before writing this book.

The accounts in this book were written under the guidance of the immortal yogi, Babaji, whose direct disciple Yogi S.A.A. Ramaiah is the guru of the author of this book. This book, especially Babaji’s and the Siddhas ways of life inspired me so much to become a different ( a better) person altogether. Babaji’s life inspired me to do become more and more disciplined with tapas. Kriya Yoga initiates will benefit enormously from this book. But one will be hugely benefitted by the accounts about the Siddhas as well, whose spectacularly divine lives can serve to inspire a spiritual aspirant onwards on their journey ahead towards liberation. The book teaches some deep truths about life that every spiritual aspirant must strive to portray. One is “universal love,” without which one cannot progress on this path. The richness of South Indian culture and the mystic and anonymously generous tradition of the Siddhas teach us of the highest evolution that is possible in a human. I feel VERY lucky to have read this book.
