How is the weight of 1.5 oz calculated?? "cloth is sold according to its weight per square yard" this is 11.5 oz/sy?!

Yes woven cloth and roving are specified differently. Chopped strand mat is specified in either grams per square meter or ounces per square foot. In the case of this product it would be 450 grams per square meter or 1.5 oz per square foot. This cloth can be applied to wood or metal using fiberglass resin. Carpet can be applied as with any other smooth surface. I don't know of a specific adhesive for marine carpet.

Does this product use a styrene binder? Can I use it with epoxy?

It has a silane binder that is compatible with polyester, epoxy and vinylester resins. It is powder bound so it comes apart a little easier than emulsion bound and wets out easily.
