Ease of setup and use
Purchased this to help teach my daughter to fly fish and it's been great. Well made and has out up with normal use from a 12 year old.

Extremely lightweight rod that is perfect for backpacking.
I do a lot of backpacking and, while I wouldn’t consider myself a “gram weenie”, do like to focus on how much weight I’m carrying. At 63 years old I’m finding that carrying a 50-60 pound pack isn’t as easy as it used to be. By carefully selecting lightweight gear I can now have a fully loaded pack in the 20-23 pound range for an average 3 day trip. Of course, this often meant that my fishing gear gets left at home because I dodn’t want to carry the extra weight. This was a real bummer because the Idaho backcountry offers some tremendous fishing opportunities.Enter the tenkara white cloud package!!! This kit weighs in at only 10 ounces for the complete package. That’s the rod, case, leader, tippets, line spool, and a small tin that holds 3 flies. If I leave the case behind that drops the weight down to 6 ounces. This will be a part of my backpacking journeys from here on out.A couple of things to note about this rod… First, it’s rather short, especially to those that are used to using a traditional fly rod. However, this is a benefit when fishing the small overgrown streams in the backcountry. Second, this is a lightweight rod and isn’t designed to handle monster fish. It’s perfect for the smaller fish you will find in high mountain streams but won’t hold up well if fighting a monster. (I ordered a couple of spare replacement tip sections from the Tenkara Rod Company to include in my kit. In my experience it’s not a question of “if” but rather “when” you will eventually break a tip. I believe that the company should include at least on replacement with the package at this price so I deducted one star for that oversight.)The tenkara style of fishing is different than traditional fly fishing (as we know it in the western world) so expect a small learning curve to master it. Once you do, you come to appreciate the simplicity and challenge that tenkara brings to your fishing endeavors.

If you want to get into Tenkara, this is a good option
Tenkara is the "latest" fly fishing fad. I'm not sure it'll always be my go to choice for fishing. I'm more of a spinner fishing kind of guy. But I get tired of always tying knots and getting untangled with my regular fly fishing setup. Tenkara is a simply way to get into fly fishing, and this setup includes everything you need to get started in the Tenkara method. You have a fixed line and no reel, so the gear is super simple. It does limit you in your casting distance. You'll want waders to get out and cover the entire river. Otherwise you'll only get about fifteen feet off shore. I highly recommend watching the videos Tenkara puts out. They explain the setup perfectly. This is perfect for traveling as everything compacts down to a small package.

Outrageously Overpriced
Look, I like the finer things in life as much as the next guy. And I’m not immune to paying more for something just for a logo. But I have to be perfectly honest about this ‘fishing pole’: There is no way the asking price for it is in any way whatsoever reasonable. I might be willing to pay hundreds of dollars for an exceptionally-built reel, and even for a rod that is made out of some indestructible, new-fangled carbon fiber or some such thing, but this rod here does not include any reel whatsoever, and it certainly is not indestructible. My first reaction to the storage tube was that it is a nice detail, but it is literally just a length of PVC-type pipe with a fancy screw cap at the end. The pole itself can’t be manhandled or it will break. The end tip seems like it could break if you so much as breathe on it too forcefully. Having said all of this, it is a well thought-out pole, it’s nice that it compacts down so nicely. I can understand the attraction to its general simplicity. I had to go online and watch a few videos about this style of fishing, and it looks like about the simplest form of fishing that exists. However, I can’t help but feel that this sort of product is mostly made to appeal to slaves to fad and people overly interested in what other people think of them. This is my honest review.
