Highly recommend!
I couldn’t be happier with this mass loaded vinyl! I bought it to help with soundproofing a room and the difference is night and day. Before, I could hear every conversation and bit of noise from the next room. Now, it feels like I have real privacy. The material is dense but easy to cut. I installed it behind dry wall and also used a few pieces on a door. Both worked perfectly. What really impressed me is how much it reduces low-frequency noise like music bass or TVs, which were my biggest issues. Highly recommend.

Soundproof that works!
I recently purchased Mass Loaded Vinyl 1.2lb to soundproof my home office, and I must say I am impressed with the results. Installation was a easy, I simply measured, cut, and adhered the Mass Loaded Vinyl to the walls of my workspace. The 1.2lb density really provides exceptional soundproofing without being overly bulky or difficult to work with. The difference in noise reduction is remarkable. I used to be constantly distracted by the sounds of traffic outside and neighbors, and my productivity suffered as a result. Now, the outside noise is virtually nonexistent. I can now work in a peaceful and quiet environment, free from disruptions. In terms of value for money, this product is worth every penny.

Pliable, dense, but smells awful
My only complaint is the smell. It smells like asphalt. I had to air it out for a week before I felt comfortable bringing it inside, and yet there is still a lingering smell. Ideally I would let this air out for several weeks in the garage or an outdoor covered area.Otherwise this is an effective and workable material. At 1.23 pounds per sq ft, this is the most dense material I've worked with. It is pretty thin -- about 1/8 inch -- but very heavy. The roll weighs almost 100 pounds. It is very durable material and easy to install. The material is very easy to cut and very pliable for corners, etc. This is premium material for use when space is an issue, and when you want the lowest profile application. I tried adding it to windows and it significantly cut down the noise coming in and going out.I'm just using it behind drywall, to help soundproof a room. In my tests thus far, it does a good job at dramatically reducing sound.I think it's a good value, and it actually exceeded my expectations in every area except for the smell.

Smells terrible!
Bought this to retroactively soundproof a room. This MLV smells awful! Even after leaving it rolled open for 1 week out in the sun, this stuff still smells like abrasive chemicals! Maybe it works, who knows... I don't know if I will ever put this into our house with his smell. I've purchased MLV before elsewhere, and did not have this issue back then.

GOOD QUALITY MLV
This is good quality MLV. It's weight and thickness are as advertised. Yes, I weighed it. 99.6 lbs on my scale. So if you are looking to SOUNDPROOF a room, this is what you have to do. One layer of this stuff will do a very good job, but you have to be sure you seal the seams and otherwise prevent sound waves from leaking through. This stuff is for serious and well-funded audio/home theater enthusiasts/professionals who need to really acoustically isolate a room. You can do a lot to acoustically TREAT a room to reduce reflections so thing sound good IN the room with acoustic panels and wall treatments but if you want to create a barrier that won't let sound through, the lower the sound the more work you have to do - including things like "de-coupling" walls and applying and sealing MLV to absorb all that energy. The lower the sound, the more energy it carries and the more MASS you need to absorb it.Keep in mind that sound waves, especially the LONG ones that comprise deep bass will go AROUND things ... so you really have to completely cover a whole wall, whole floor, ideally ALL WALLS and FLOORS and floor above, too, if you want to keep sound from going up...Get help installing, too - it's heavy so it's not easy to install.I am unsure what limited coverage will do - some report some success. If you're not dealing with a lot of loud low-end noise, you can probably find a huge benefit covering just a wall for sound isolation between rooms. Even more so if you put a second layer of drywall over the MLV - THAT gives you a HUGE benefit.

This is good stuff
This is really a substantial product ! I ordered this to soundproof the room where I keep my 3D printer because it is very noisy (and the bonus is that the washer is there too) and I'm really impressed with how it cut down on the noise level. This is not some bargain store material- this is heavy duty quality professional product. Be warned : the roll is heavy and hard to move at first untill you get going on the cutting. It is very easy to cut and install though: I did all the cutting with a heavy blade by hand. It goes up quick once you get started. The material is flexible and goes on walls that are uneven quite easily. Very happy with it!

Serious Reduction in Noise
I was surprised at how heavy this roll was when it arrived, we had the breakout the dolly to move it. The good news it’s worth is since it does a great job as a noise barrier. It is easy to cut to size and tack into place. If you have an area that you want to soundproof this will really help you reduce the noise level, but it wasn’t soundproof like the room they put you in for hearing tests. It does seriously reduce the amount of noise that gets through though.

Not completely soundproof, but reduction
We have an 8' x 20' room for our water filtration system sectioned off by plate glass. It gets super loud when the machine runs and the pumps kick on. We cut these to fit on the plate glass and used spray glue to glue it on. Big difference! Noise level is reduced. Not completely but enough to notice a big difference. Material is REALLY heavy, and thick. So we had to use A LOT of spray glue to account for the weight.
