Great value for the price
I purchased these to replace the factory speakers in my '99 4runner. The paper speakers just weren't giving me the listening experience I needed and the tweeters really didn't seem to be putting anything out. Install/Fit: 4.5/5 Fit was great, crutch field said the tweeters would need to surface mount but they fit perfectly into the factory bracket. Some people say there isn't enough wiring between the crossovers and the tweeter and the subs, but it was plenty for the 4runner. The woofer doesn't mount perfectly into the factory speaker bracket, but the adapter that jbl ships with the speakers makes install a breeze. Listening experience:4/5 As for the listening experience I really can't complain. I listen to a great variety of music from bluegrass to minimal heavy house to metal. It's not as crisp and detailed as my Harman Kardon system in my Subaru, but compared to my factory speakers the detail in the mids is distinct and noticeable, you really get the bang for your buck here. The highs really stand out and you can really hear what the tweeters are contributing, a bit harsh, which can be corrected with some proper EQ. The bass is great, JBL is known for it, if you're a real bass head audiophile you might finding yourself wanting to add the sub, but these are enough for my listening preferences.. I can close my eyes and really sink into the music, very happy I got these. Cost: 5/5 I got these on a black Friday sale, I paid next to nothing for them so it was a no brainer. Still think the value for the money is there at full price though. As for powering these. My Pioneer head unit gives me plenty of headroom for decent listening. I'll probably upgrade the rear speakers in the next month and spend a year listening to see if I really need the headroom an amp would provide.

Great Value. For the Price
Bought the JBL gx428 speakers first, and they were honestly horrible. I personally lean more towards the side of audiophile, although I wouldn’t grade it on that scale. As a general full range two way 3.5in speaker it does the job. The highs don’t make your ears bleed like the GX but keep in mind it’s still a very easy speaker to drive so set up incorrectly it still has a tendency to be harsh at higher volumes. At normal listening volumes mids lean on the cooler side for me(which i didn’t expect), with decent accuracy. The quality of the highs are, well, the soundstage is very forward, clean enough with decent detail. I still found it to be slightly harsh and inaccurate for me but i understand i only spent like $65 on this. As for bass, you shouldn’t be looking for bass from this speaker on the first place, but it’s as good as i’d expect from a speaker this size even though my system doesn’t send many low frequencies to these drivers. It’s definitely better than the GX(that thing made my ears bleed), but only a step up. If you are coming from most stock speakers this will be a night and day improvement. And for this price it’s everything i could’ve asked for at $65, I’m sure this will please most people. If i tried to compare it to whatever kicker one i heard at this price point a while back, id also say these have a more mature sound with less harshness(from what i remember).

Nice fitment idea + clear sound, but my pair had to go back
I picked up the JBL Club 64FSL 6.5" shallow-mount speakers to replace stock door speakers, and the low mounting depth was the main reason, great on vehicles where space is tight. In my brief testing they seemed like a legit upgrade in clarity, especially in the highs, and they’re efficient enough that they should do fine even on a factory head unit. Unfortunately, I had to return mine, so I’m not rating them as a long-term win, just sharing that my first impression was positive and they seemed well-designed for shallow installs. Also worth noting: these don’t include grilles, so plan accordingly if your install needs them.

PLEASE BUY AN ADAPTER - Acura Integra GS 97
Reviewing based on installation and quality of speaker (ACURA INTEGRA GS 97) Installation 3/5 I drive a 97 Acura Integra, and it honestly doesn't fit. It does share the same size as the OEM speaker, but you must drill your own holes into the car if you use the bracket that is provided in the package. Furthermore, PLEASE BUY A WIRING ADAPTER BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. I unfortunately overlooked it, so it please buy it to save you the trouble of splicing the wires itself. Speaker Quality - 5/5 Heavy bass, nice vocal audio. Definitely a noticeable upgrade from the OEM speakers for sure.

Great Speaker Quality
Replaced factory Jeep JT front speakers. Fitment is tight, but fits nicely, much better sound. Sounds crisp and more full. I would do it again.

MASSIVE upgrade over my factory 3.5’s!!! (WITH CAVEAT…READ REVIEW)
So… I upgraded my factory 2018 Chrysler 300 dash speakers to these JBL Club 3.5” speakers. They definitely sounded better than my OEM speakers but they were getting WAY too much bass. They were pretty distorted and muddy sounding. Chrysler’s built in EQ settings and crossovers on the UConnect basically prevent the volume from getting loud to protect their cheap speakers (mine is a non-amplified system). If you have a newer model 300, you know that the overall factory soundstage is pretty good, it just lacks those crisp highs and volume to really jam out. If you do upgrade to the JBL Club 3.5” speakers, I would also HIGHLY suggest that you order the Recoil BB-35 Bass Blockers to install on the positive speaker wire going into the speakers. The signal coming from the factory head unit to the dash speakers is a full range signal (highs, mids, and lows). The JBL’s come with a resistor installed that run to the tweeter to protect it from the lower frequencies, but nothing to filter the signal to the actual 3.5”. Initially I had to turn down the bass on my EQ so low to make the new JBL’s sound clean, and distortion free, that I lost that mid-bass that I enjoyed so much from the 6x9’s in my front doors and rear deck. The Recoil BB-35 bass blockers filtered all of those unwanted signals from playing through my new JBL 3.5” dash speakers so that I could turn up the low frequencies on the EQ giving me the upgraded soundstage and louder volume I was looking for. I couldn’t be happier from such an easy and cheap upgrade to my OEM system! The difference is night and day!

Quality sound and reasonable price. Fast delivery.
Delivered in time so I could install in my 1996 Peterbilt 379. I like the JBL quality sound. These join another pair of 4x6 JBL speakers. Helped add some bass but will look for a sub to fit somewhere in the Peterbilt truck.

2025 Gladiator - perfect fit & elevates sound from cheap factory speakers instantly!
2025 gladiator-fits perfectly, one of the tabs is a bit too long but I just tightened it down and it’s good to do, installation is a breeze, Instantly elevated music experience. Make sure you get the 72-7902 wiring connectors…. No cutting wires, just pop off the dash speaker grills, (bought a trim removal kit for 9$), unplug old speakers, plug the 72-7902 into the vehicle speaker wire, put the foam tape on the JBL, then match the appropriate clip to the JBL speaker - one is big, one is small. That’s it! Definitely better than factory speakers & I am sure if I used aftermarket amp and such it will make an even bigger difference. Hope this helps.
