This book is based on the dated premise that autistic people should act like neurotypical people, that autistic people are somehow socially undesirable and should suppress their true selves. This is the road to mental illness.

I got this for my 6 year old son who has Autism. I wasn't sure what he would think, but he LOVED it and wanted to read through it immediately. Which made me both happy and sad - happy that we have this resource, but sad to think he wants to engage with the other kids at school, but just can't figure out how! I can tell this book is going to help! The language is simple, and the pictures are key in visually demonstrating the interactions. It lays out social situations in clear, simple steps that he can practice and internalize. I can already see this will help him develop more social skills. I will also probably get a copy for his school, so he and other students can reference it in the classroom. Fantastic book! Great for younger kids.

Usefull

Great resource for a social skills group

I like this book because my students are able to think about what they want to say and do this as an extra activity on their own. When they complete an activity I can see where they are and what they are thinking.
