The best gravel cleaner I have ever had!
The best gravel cleaner I have ever had!I always find cleaning the gravel in my tropical aquarium (120L) a bit of a chore. I have used the battery-operated devices but they really aren’t up to the job. Firstly, they are all (whatever the price) a tad flimsy and easily broken. Then they don’t run for very long on a set of batteries. Finally, they do not have sufficient suction to really clean the gravel deep down – just removing any light surface grime.Siphon cleaners work reasonably well but (a) they can only be used in conjunction with a water change and (b) most of the aquarium water has gone well before the gravel has been cleaned. As such, I thought I would give this a try – and it works a treat! Being mains powered, there is no problem with the batteries running down and the suction is good and strong. Indeed, it even sucks up small snails when they attempt an invasion. The device clips to the side of my aquarium well – though I had thought it wouldn’t fit as the top is about 2cm wide – however, I found there is some flex in the clips so they fit and grip well. I find that the cleaning tube is excellent and easy to manoeuvre in the aquarium. I find slowly dragging through the gravel is best as all the dirt is sucked up but the gravel just slides out again. In about 10 minutes I have a very clean aquarium. Initially the aquarium water was a tad cloudy but I have found that putting a small cut-off of filter floss into the cleaner (under the cleaner divider plate) the return water is very clean. It still takes a while for everything to settle but it’s pretty quick. Finally, cleaning the device is a doddle – I just rinse everything in warm water and let it dry. The sponge is also easily rinsed and any floss I used, I dispose of. The instructions are also good and very clear. So, this is an excellent gravel cleaner that is easy to use and very effective. It’s not the cheapest device around, but I have yet to find a better one.

Works well
I was not sure about ordering this as reviews are mixed , arrived a day early so I got to try it sooner.Used on 7, 10, 30, 36 and 64 litre tanks. Easy to set up and fill, takes a little while to purge the air then ready to go. I did add some floss to catch smaller particles.Much easier than using a siphon as I could really clean the tank substrate, sand or gravel and not lose all the water. Powerful suction cleans deep into gravel substrate, it does remove a small bit of gravel but easy to replace, more care needed with sand substrate..Tanks are all cleaner that ever and looking good. It does not have an on/off switch so I plugged in to an Alexa controlled socket so I could start and stop the cleaner easily and no putting wet hands near plug. Will also make water changes a little easier.Highly recommend for making the job easier.

Great idea, poor implementation
This is probably one of the best ideas when it comes to hoovering the fishes bedroom carpet.Hangs on the side, great capacity, fill one side with filter floss and let the foam filter fill the other side, top it up with tank water and off it goes!Well, here's the thing, it's not easy to prime. I decided to get one of those priming bulbs to sit between the inlet pipe and tube. It worked... Sort of.Having a priming cap would probably solve this, fill it up, place cap on, couple of presses to the priming cap and viola!Second thing... No power switch... I just installed a standard table lamp switch inline. It's not a water proof one (ideally should be) but it saves crouching under my tank to pull the plug every time I need to react to sucking something I shouldn't... Looking at you Mr shrimp! All in all, better the the fluval pro vac I have, but has some obvious design oversights. If you can live with these then this is a great buy.I use it regularly and it works great.... eventually when the air finds it way out

Eden aquarium gravel cleaner
Very disappointed, under powered, no primer.Hoses are ridiculously short.Practically impossible to get into ,so cleaning will be practically impossible.overall construction is of a cheap quality.do not recommend this product at all.

works well and stops baby fish getting sucked up !
I have adapted this with a cheap foot peddle from amazon so that i can turn it on and off while keeping both hands free (and not mucking about with plugs and wet hands ! ) i also put on a longer output tube so the water goes out to drain rather than back into the tank - easy part water change . With it set up like that , a short burst of the pump sets up a pretty good syphon .Good bits - any little fish end up in the plastic tank and are easy to liberate back to the fish tank . Easy to clean out , the clips holding the top on get easier to use as time go onBad bits - if the water is going back to the tank , its like a big brown dirt cloud .. bigger stuff is filtered , fine stuff .. not so much . You do need to fill the plastic tank with water thru the bung in the top to prime the motor . it can be a bit of a pain to re assemble it . The plastic tank only has a limited capasity so it will need washing out and emptying regularlyto be fair , i'm very happy with it after i had adapted it with the foot on / off switch - solves the problems i had with bits of tubes , needing 6 hands and dropping water all over the floor
