Effective and compact can opener
Love this opener. No sharp edges and is easy to use. It does a great job of opening a can without too much effort. Seems durable and doesn't take too much space in the drawer.

Old Approved!
For reference this story is about my elderly mother. Walked over to check on the folks (since for some reason people in their late 70s revert back to the terrible twos). Caught my mom and the can opener she clearly stole off the table from The Last Supper painting, along with a knife trying to open a can. Hence this purchase. This can opener is amazing! No sharp edges, easy to use, comfortable grip, and opens can seamlessly. Mom loves it and randomly opens things just to use it. So next on the list is storage containers and if anyone knows of an adult adoption agency… Love the can opener…so worth it. Great gift for kitchen dwellers!

Best can opener I've ever used
So far it has proven durable, easy to operate and hold. Great quality, not cheap plastic. It opens cans without creating a sharp edge to cut yourself on, as someone who opens a lot of cans I've cut myself a fair amount, haven't had a single cut after purchasing this can opener. It opens cans by undoing the seal, not cutting the top. Great small profile in your drawer, I think it takes up less space than traditional can openers. Do yourself a favor and try this style of can opener, I am NEVER going back to the barbaric metal disk cutters again. I also never had to clean this thing as it does not really interact with the contents of cans. So it's definitely the safer, lazier option compared to regular can openers. So happy I found this thing!

Great can opener
Needed a replacement for a pampered chef can I had for 15 years. This opener is it!!! Great size, not too big, or too small. Super easy to use, and fits in your hand like a glove. The handle is just the right size, the grip on it prevents it from slipping or moving. Super comfortable to use. Seems like a sturdy kitchen tool, time will tell. It opens cans better than the one I had!

Works ok on most (but not all) cans if you have strong hands
My old can opener, a non-safety type from Pampered Chef, finally loosened up to the point where it would not reliably pierce or open cans. There was just too much slop and wear between the blades. It lasted almost 20 years so I'm not complaining. This time around, I wanted one of the safety openers so that I wouldn't have to worry about sharp edges. After receiving it, I tried this opener on a couple of #10 coffee cans. I drink both regular and decaf coffee so I have 2 cans open at any point in time. Opening the first can was pretty straightforward, though I will say that this opener requires quite a bit of torque to work its way through a can. A #10 can is large and my hand was tired by the time I got to the end of it. My hands are pretty strong (I lift weights regularly) so someone with smaller or weaker hands may struggle using this thing. The second can completely thwarted this opener. It would not bite into the can's rim with sufficient force to spin it around. I tried in several different locations with no luck. I found this unusual because the first can had opened up cleanly, and both appeared identical, but I guess they're not. I opened up another couple of cans just to make sure the opener worked OK and it did. One particular can just threw it for a loop, I guess. This opener does leave a very clean, burr-free edge, but it's harder to use than most of the other can openers I've used. I'll keep using it for now because it does a good job, but I'm not in love with the amount of force I had to use or with the inability to open a pretty standard coffee can. The jury is still out on this one. UPDATE: After some additional use, I've upped my rating to 4 stars. This can opener works pretty well, with one caveat. Some newer coffee cans are actually made of what looks like aluminized cardboard, with steel top and bottom sections. This can opener seems to have trouble with these cans. My guess is that the drive wheel can't get a good bite on the rim of the can, so it just slips when you try to turn the handle. This explains why I had so much trouble opening some #10 coffee cans in the past. The Walmart house-brand coffee cans seem to be the worst so far. I will say that, for regular steel cans, this works well. Yes, it can get hard to turn the lever and tire your hand out, but the edges it leaves are smooth and burr-free, just like it promises. Since the majority of the cans that I open are smaller than a #10, it works fine most of the time. Since most of the cardboard coffee cans now come with foil tops that can be peeled back without tools, I don't expect to have much of a problem in the future. I wish it was easier to turn the handle on this thing, but it's not unwieldy and it does a good job.

Comfortable and very easy to use!
This is really good can opener that smoothly cuts along the outer edge of the can. This allows for the top to be placed back on for storage, which is great! If you like to drain the fluids of a can by pressing the top inward to squeeze out some excess juice, like for tuna, then you might not like this quite as much. I really like that there's a guide bar on the top to help you position perfectly, and the turning of the opener is really easy on the hands. Due to this, it's really comfortable to use, even for weaker or smaller hands. It grips the can solidly, and it's even sometimes a little hard to get the removed lid off of the opener. I think this can opener should last for a long time and be durable because it doesn't touch the liquids in a can like the other types do, so this is a great value for the money. I definitely recommend getting this!

Good performance; easy to use; decent build quality for the price
This replaces a side cutter can opener from Zylis that bit the dust after many years of service. Alas, they don't make that model any more, so I tried this option. So far, it's been performing very well. It is easy to position and cuts neatly and smoothly. Turning the knob does require more force than with the Zylis, but it's not bad, even for my old hands. The knob is easy to grasp and comfortable. The build quality is decent given the price point. I don't expect this to provide the same 15+ year service life of the Zylis, but the build quality seems good enough for several years of service. A good performing side cutter opener that is compact and a good value. 5 stars

Safer, easy. Recommend.
Removed top with no sharp edges. No worries in trash. Easy horizontal attach and turn. Easy release. No sections left uncut- whole lid lifts right off.
