Ruby's Chinese New Year

Cute story to share with young ones about the Chinese zodiac
Though the story itself is not according to the legend. The author has included a simple version of the legend at the end of the book to help young readers to learn about it.The illustration is so beautiful. My young ones enjoy reading them very much.

Not bad
The illustrations are really nice and cute. The story is ok. Like a couple previous reviewers stated, it does kind of become a list (but I guess some kids like the repetition) the cat IS a little confusing and why the girl, Ruby, decides to swim is a bit random. I guess it’s trying to to have parallels to the zodiac myth. If libraries were open (COVID-19) I would have checked this book out rather than buy it. I appreciate the arts and crafts ideas at the end!

Love, so cute!
My son and I read this book over and over leading up to Lunar New Year. It’s so cute and he loved learning the characters of each animal.

I would not recommend it. In addition
While the story does introduce the animals of the Chinese zodiac, it does not teach anything about each animal's characteristics. The story has little to engage the reader and turns into more of a list than a story. I would not recommend it. In addition, the book I ordered came damaged and was not fit for use.

meh there are better books out there
I have a lot of CNY books and was excited to add this one to our collection - although the imagery is lovely the actual story felt longer than it needed to be and didn't really keep my 5 year olds attention. After reading it once they didn't go back to it.
