844 Metal Mechanical Pencil 0.7mm - Sapphire Blue (844.150)

Stability and fast balance to write . I recommended for all musician or artists. This brand from Switzerland have long and heavy tradition, special in architecture.

The product was shipped quickly and with proper care. The pen itself was rolled up in some bubble wrap and placed inside a Amazon Prime bubble wrap bag. I was very happy with this because I had ordered a different color of the 844 series from a different seller and it came loose in the Prime padded bag and had a streak through the text printed on the pen. I'm really happy I sent that one back and ordered this blue one from a different seller. These 844 series Caran D'ache mechanical pencils are great. I like the weight of it in my hand a lot. It has good balance and a comfortable feel. I've been collecting cool/interesting mechanical pencils for a while now. The Kuru Toga's by Uni with the rotating lead are pretty cool but this Caran D'ache is my favorite to work with.

The weight and balance are perfect. The hexagonal shape is great, and gives the feeling of securely fitting into the writer's hand. The mechanism feels solid and well made. I collect many mechanical pencils (not a strange hobby, I assure you!) and this is probably my second favorite of all. Thus far I have the Caran D'ache 844 in all colors but two, and will be getting those soon.

I first got the pens and loved them so much decided to to give the pencils a try. Like the pens very nice weight and good size. I'm giving 4 stars simply because in description listed would come with a spare supply of leads, which never arrived with the order. Never less it's a great product and would buy again.

This is a nice mechanical pencil that writes very well and has stylish Euro flair. However, as another reviewer has already pointed out the 844 is a little top heavy. Thats not a big deal for most people, but if that bugs you, then it is something to consider. The other thing to consider is that so far, the eraser refills are a little hard to find and pricey compared to brands like Pentel. The eraser pricing might be a deal breaker for many people, so check the current situation out before you purchase the 844. I hope to find an alternate brand eraser refill that is more readily available and affordable. If someone finds an alternate eraser for the 844, please let me know. So, if you love the Euro styling and / or cool color options, then go for it, this is a cool mechanical pencil. If you are looking for maximum practicality, you might want to keep looking.

I have a number of the 7mm Caran D'ache Metal pencils and the matching ball point pens. They are comfortable to use, rugged, and priced right for their quality. They are my favorites...bar none. The .7 mm is a better choice for me than a .5mm pencil where I constantly break the lead or the 1.1mm Scripto size that is too broad for precision. Occasionally the solid metal top will get loose. This is usually a self inflicted problem by playing with the top once too often in a boring meeting. It is easily solvable by some judicious exacto knife surgery of the metal fingers that apply light pressure inside the cap.

The delivery was way late than what it is predicted and when the product came it did not came with the box as it is mentioned it is misleading!!

I wanted a mechanical pencil that looked good and if lost would not be an expensive loss. Plus I wanted something that was easy to retract the lead when done and writes smoothly and with a larger lead because the thinner ones always break at a faster rate then I use them - my heavy hand like my heavy foot on the gas.

Bought this as a gift, thinking that it’d come with a case as shown in the description or at least in its own packaging, but none whatsoever (see my pic). Misleading. So disappointed.

Great quality for a mechanical pencil and writes seamlessly. No breakage of lead or any cheap plastic usage. Feels good in the hand.

A smaller pencil than some. I love it.
