98% Cotton, Will Shrink, Loose fit on *First* Try-on
Jan 15, 2026 Dickies Womens Relaxed Straight Carpenter Duck Pant Saw this is "frequently returned" due to loose fit. Yes, they are loose on first try-on, but you can bet that they will shrink because of 98% Cotton. I wear a 4, it fitted initially like a 5, but I expect it to shrink. Also, the regular is around a 32" inseam. These are well made work pants and should serve well for a long time.

Breathable and durable
These are my favorite pants. I own every color and in double front. I’m rough on pants and these hold up. They also don’t make me overheat since they are cotton. Make sure you wash in cold water and line dry because they are cotton and will shrink! The only thing I don’t like is that they are perfect fit on the legs but have a huge waist…. I have to have a belt and even then it’s bunched up and baggy in the crotch and waist area. I still love them.. I wear a size 2 at 5’7 and 135 lbs.

Good pants, weird fit
Nice pants, weird fit. 5'3, 118 lbs. Usually take a 4, 26-27 waist. The people who say to size down, that didn't work for me. The 2 is snug but fits. The problem is the low waist- if you get a larger size, they'll fall down. Good pants, just maybe need a higher waist.

Dickies carpenter work pants are great!
Dickies carpenter work pants are my favorite work pants. I ordered size 2 and they fit perfectly. The length comes long (I suppose for anyone with long legs), so I fold the bottoms up underneath till I can hem them. The pocket on the thigh holds a cell phone very nicely and the heavy duck material is great for cold winter wear. I have several other Dickies carpenter pants in a size larger, but after washing them, they do stretch out a bit after wearing them, then shrink a bit again after washing. I took a chance on the smaller size and glad I did. They are well made, have deep pockets and are so comfortable. They are my favorite pants for everyday work.... gardening, yard, woodworking etc. and I think they look good.

Not a good fit; not for big butts; gives camel toe; fabric too lightweight
I picked the size 4 regular because another review with my build (5'4" 135lb) said it fit great. I'm sure this is the size that provides the closest approximation to a fit for my body, but I'm returning the item. The fit is strange. The pants are tight through my thighs. My legs are muscular from lifting & hiking & long distance running, but this was supposed to be a relaxed straight fit. It wasn't. It fit slim in the hips/thighs and like a bootcut below the knee. The jeans aren't made for a woman's butt. The waist is simultaneously both too long in front, causing the fabric to push down and create a camel toe (cuz I have no junk to fill up the front); while also being too flat and short in the back (cuz not enough room for my ass). Because these aren't form fitted to a woman's body, there is a multi-inch gap in the back between my lower back and the jeans. I'm built pretty rectangular for a woman. Not a lot of curve. Yet you can stand behind me and look straight down into the pants. (They didn't accidentally send the men's pants; the label says it's the women's fit.) It feels like they said "Yep, this size men's jean should fit the ladies in this size. Also, let's make it out of cheaper lightweight fabric, cuz we can get away with that in women's clothes." Yeah, the jeans are lighter weight than duck weight fabric. I own thrifted 90s jeans that are heavier weight. I bought these to wear gardening, but the fit was too disappointing to keep them even for use where no one would see me wear them.

Quality is not the same with this company look somewhere else for whatever you need
I’ve always known Dickie used to be a really good brand however upon several different items that my husband and I have purchased, we have found the company lacking and quality. I ordered two carpenter pants. They were great fit great however not within under a month of wearing them the two back pockets started ripping to note on the statement above in regards to dickies my husband and I had ordered him the work socks, and as I said, dickies is usually a really good brand that I can count on, but within the last several times of making a purchase from Dickie, as I have found the company to be extremely lacking in quality of their Products I will not purchase from Dickies again

Will be ordering more!
Great pants! Love the fit! Just the right amount of stretch. Actually flattering which I didn’t expect. No problems with washing or drying and the price is great!

Big in the waist but I'm in between pants sizes
I bought these on a hope that they're good. They fit big in the waist. I bought a size 14 I'm between a 12 and 16 closer. I love the pocket room they remind me of the men's carpenter fit that I use to only wear. They're a little bigger in the waist than I thought but it's fine there's plenty of room for layers for the winter time. I'm just happy that I didn't have to go up three pants size like other women's work wear for a comfortable fit. My tools stay in my pocket.
