Location of shifter, is it by the base of your steering wheel, or can you have it lower on the frame?

The bracket for the shifter attaches under the wheel base to the same support. You can adjust it left or right, but there is nowhwere to mount it lower on the frame.

Can support direct drive wheels?

It fits. It can give a good experience on lower setting (<8Nm). For the best experience on higher torque settings, the Playseat® Trophy - Logitech G Edition would be recommended.
