This works well for me
I took magnesium oxide for a number of years without a problem. I used it for healthy heart function (rhythm) and in the process found it helped with IBS (Irritable Bowel) symptoms and kept me regular. As I developed a sensitive stomach and had several bouts of bloating, ulcer irritation and pain last summer I eliminated the mag. oxide and would reintroduce it after the symptoms had subsided. I did this several times and each time the oxide was reintroduced I would develop stomach problems. I tried the Citrate form of magnesium and had the same symptoms and finally came to this product (chelated glycinate). This form of magnesium is milder on the stomach and it has caused me no problems in the last 8 months. If you use it to stay regular - I find 200mg ( 1 pill) daily keeps me just right. If you take 400mg it can make some people have stools that are too soft, but everyone is different. For people that don't have IBS and may have an occasional bout of constipation than this is a good product to take - again, 400mg is usually enough to get things moving.

Not meant for extended nightly use.
They work well to help sleep for short periods of time. Once the body gets used to them, you need to give them a couple of weeks' break. Not fun to swallow.

This item was specifically recommended by my doctor (a doctor of osteopathy) based on ...
I received this product earlier this month, March of 2016; it expires in August of 2020. It contains 180 uncoated tablets of chelated magnesium (magnesium chelate) around 1"x0.25"x0.25" (may be a little smaller). I don't have any issues swallowing them with a gulp of water. This item was specifically recommended by my doctor (a doctor of osteopathy) based on his research. I had switched away for a time due to the cost, and have switched back as Amazon has them for a much more reasonable price than when I first looked. Pro's - High bio-availability (your body absorbs a high percentage of the supplement compared to other delivery methods, like magnesium oxide) - No bad taste (unless you chew them!) - Long shelf life - No digestive disturbance - No aftertaste - Tablets have a tendency to break perfectly in half - Completely prevents my heart palpitations when I'm trying to fall asleep! Con's - If chewed, they taste chalky (so don't chew them!) - There is no cotton filler in the bottle, so you may end up with tablets broken in half - just press the sharp corners into a solid object to dull them and they're fine

They are incredibly easy to break in half by hand
I started using this product 5 years ago. I was frequently having muscle cramps in my feet and legs soon after my diagnosis of osteoporosis. After doing some reading I learned that taking a magnesium supplement could help. I purchased Carlson Chelated Magnesium 200mg. It did help. I found my muscle cramps stopped completely if I took one half tablet daily. They are incredibly easy to break in half by hand, with no need to use a pill cutter. When that bottle was gone I purchased another. Then when that bottle was empty and I needed more magnesium, I decided to try another brand which Amazon had a banner for showing it was a #1 best seller. So I purchased that brand, it was Doctor's Best High Absorption Magnesium (200 Mg Elemental). I started using the Doctor's brand 2 months ago and I immediately started getting the muscle cramps again. I upped the dosage half a tablet to one full tablet daily and still suffer these frequent cramps. There is definitely a huge difference in which product works best for me. Carlson Chelated Magnesium 200mg tablets is what I am reordering and the only product I will trust for relief of muscle cramps. My Doctor's brand of magnesium is getting tossed in the trash. Carlson's brand of magnesium has done so much to improve the quality of my life. I highly recommend it.

Works well for Joint Pains
I got it for my father in law and the product worked very well for his join pains. He has been having joint pains for the last 5 years and he is 75. Initially i got these for him and he felt much better. In the midst i had stopped sending him and the pain seems to have worsened. I got it again last month and he feels better again. I am sure it cos of these tablets. So folks who have issues with joint pains should definitely give it a try.
