Simply Fantastic
I'd never used or even picked up a chainsaw before ordering this one so I knew nothing at all about them i.e. what size, weight, power to get??? I'd just always presumed that electric chainsaws were totally inferior to petrol, and petrol ones were simply too expensive to even consider. But some overhanging trees on my roof forced me to look around and I quickly settled on this one after reading all the 5 star reviews. All I can say is this chainsaw is AMAZING.It is quick and easy to assemble with no tools. Other reviewers have pointed out that the diagrams in the booklet are not very clear but after a couple of minutes I had it figured out. Each section of the chain has a small arrow on it, you simply slot the chain in to the chainsaw bar with the arrows at the top facing forward (away from you). You then place the excess chain over the sprocket on the chainsaw and screw on the plastic shield to keep it all in place. The chain is then tightened by rotating the red ring in the opposite direction. I was literally up and running in less than 5 minutes.Using it is a dream (and a lot of fun!). It feels very light and is (relatively speaking) very quiet compared to petrol ones I've heard. I used it for 2 hours right outside my son's bedroom window and he never woke up once. The saw went through branches up to 8" thick in seconds like there was nothing there. Impressive and scary at the same time! The chain did bounce off twice but I soon realised this was down to my error and nothing to do with the design of the chainsaw. And like most reviewers have commented, you will need to buy a litre of oil before using as the amount supplied is dismal.I have no reservation in recommending this chainsaw 100%.By safe

Great piece of kit......
I had a 14-inch diameter 18-foot weed to remove from my garden known popularly as a 'Leylandii'.I opened the box, read the instructions and as it says, no tools necessary. The only fiddly bit was screwing down the clamp/cover which holds the chain/blade onto the tensioner slot without the chain rising above the drive cog and going slack. I recommend a block of wood to support the chain blade so it sits exactly flat to the locating slot before you tighten the cover down and tension the chain. The oil it comes with is pathetic; you'll get to the minimum level (just) and you'll have about enough to cut yourself a bunch of roses. BUY A LITRE OF OIL WHEN YOU ORDER THIS ITEM.So, having assembled it I tested it on an old dead Forsythia trunk. Laugh - I did when it had no effect as I'd got the chain on upside down lol so it did nothing. So, took the blade off, flipped the chain 180 degrees and it went through like the proverbial knife and butter. I had on safety glasses - always wear as it chucks out plenty of wood slices!Don't worry if you have never used a chainsaw before. It has instructions on how to do every cut, i.e. a branch where you cut 1/3 up from underneath, then on the same line 2/3 down from the top so the blade never gets trapped or squeezed. Check the oil ever 10 minutes and top up on minimum. So, onto the main job. As per instructions, I cut the cheese wedge out of the trunk parallel to and facing the angle and direction I wanted it to fall. Went to the opposite side, 50mm above the apex of the cheese wedge, and cut in parallel to it. Sure enough, a hinge was formed and the tree toppled exactly where I intended it to. Job done. Trimmed the branches off and logged the trunk with ease. Now the giant weed is in a pyramid awaiting incineration on Guy Fawkes night in Novemeber......

Excellent saw
Really pleased with the quality and robustness of this little machine which is also very lightweight and easy to use. This was purchased as a gift for my father almost 1 year ago and he was thrilled with it at the time and he still is today. It has lasted very well but does need the chain sharpening quite often although this is probably due to the fact that my father cuts anything and everything with it (wood types!) so if you are only cutting soft, dry wood then the chain would last longer, we have given it a good test with every kind of wood, living, dead, dried, wet, treated, untreated and it has stood up to the test. A good buy and i am happy to recommend.

Beginner with chainsaw and impressed - safe easy use
I had been using a scorpion saw for small logs and hand saw for cutting down trees (36" bow saw). Getting on a bit and fed up with scorpion as the blades drop out! So... with a few nerves decided to get an electric chain saw. Read reviews and went for this one. Setting up took a little time as I wanted to get it right first time - after a bit of learning it went together easy with a helping hand. Plugged in and not working but figured out the kick-back brake - it is in fact the hand guard! Had got in a lot of oil so no problem there. Filled her up and tried it out on a 6" diameter log with some trepidation - went through it like knife through butter! wow! Tried a 14" diameter log i.e. the biggest this thing should handle and a few seconds later I am through. I have cut up quite a bit now and no kick-back or any problems. I tried a little nudge on the brake and it came in immediately and stopped the saw dead. Impressive! It is very safe - when cutting, the saw is pulled into and engages with the wood so it cannot move - a little forward and downward pressure and it cuts quickly - it only needs a slight pressure and the sharp chain does all the work. On larger logs one needs to stop, pull the saw out a little and then start again as the body really does engage with the wood (big steel teeth on body). All in all I feel very safe using this and it certainly does the job. I would recommend strong chrome leather gloves and face shield though just in case - and the sawdust gets thrown out at a huge rate so face/eye protection useful!

Poor chain tighting system
good saw but the quick tension system is not good, I wish I had bought the one with a screwdriver/Allen key tension, then the hand tighting wheel breaksonly 3 years old and gone to the tip, I think all saws need the same chain tension as the petrol ones, as these hand wheel ones don't work
