Takes your shower to the next level
September of 2022 we remodeled the master bath from top to bottom. My wife had a design planned down to the cabinet hinges but allowed me this one indulgence. We got the 4 outlet valve and controller and it is a luxury that is quickly becoming a necessity. It did not appear to be difficult to install, our contractor commented that he had not installed one of these yet but after reviewing the instructions he stated he could handle it with no issues. He was true to his word and it worked perfectly right off the bat. One thing I would recommend is to make sure the valve is mounted where you can get to it easily, it has 2 filters that can get clogged and you need access to handle that if it pops up. Another thing is be sure you can access where the power supply and battery backup connect to the valve. The first month we had it we had a power "flash" where we lost power for about 2 seconds and the controller display went blank and we had no connection to the device. I unplugged the power cord and battery pack, waited about 30 seconds and plugged them back in and we were back to normal with all programming intact. There have been no issues since then.It is quite the luxury to lay in bed and tell Alexa "Ask Moen to start preset 1 (or 2), hear the shower come on and just lay there until it heats up to your pre-set temp where it pauses and waits for you to push the button to restart. You get used to this real quick. You don't have to start it with voice control, you can just as easily push the button to activate one of the presets and even adjust the temp on the panel or through the app. You can set it to activate 1 outlet or all 4 at once and can change these during use with the touch of a button. Our set up had a dual shower head and 2 body sprays (body sprays count as 1 device) in front and a hand held device and 2 body sprays on the side set closer to the back so 2 people can shower at once. If you take a minute to adjust all of them you can get all 7 devices spraying you at once. The water pressure with all of them open isn't great but it's still a luxurious feeling. And the lack of knobs and diverters gives the large shower a clean look.Set up on IOS was a breeze and I'm still learning more about the device. I used my iPhone and had no issues but it will not work with my iPad. This was disclosed in advance so it was not a problem. The only issue I'm still working on is the naming protocol for the presets. I named preset one John's shower and preset 2 Jane's shower but they will not respond as I want. If I say "Moen start preset one" I get a 105 degree shower that pauses when it reaches temperature. If I say "Moen start John's shower" it heats up to 100 degrees (the default temp) and does not pause, just continues to run. Same with Jane's shower. If anyone has figured this out yet drop me a line.I gave it 5 stars with no hesitation. If anything changes I will update my review.

For the confident DIYer or pro
This may get updated, since my shower isn't complete. By day I work for an aerospace contractor, by night I'm a rogue home improvement fanatic. When it turned out my shower needed a complete overhaul, I stumbled across this and decided to go for it. I've learned a couple of things.1) Don't trust that your contractor used standard framing around the shower. The valve is designed to fit between standard 16 on center framing, but that wasn't what I had in my shower wall.2) You *must* have an access panel on the opposite side of the shower. I was lucky, and my shower wall is shared with the toilet closet. If it wasn't I'd have had to return this.3) I was also lucky in that I could get a favor from one of the facilities guys at work to run the electrical. I first called an electrician and he quoted me $933 to run the electrical. It took an hour. It would have cost me - paying retail - $30 for the supplies. That means the electrician wanted $900 an hour for labor. For that price I expect dinner and flowers along with the electrical.4) Something I found out after I'd done something I couldn't undo - the installation video shows standard PEX adapters sweated onto the brass fittings - they're wrong. Use the Sharkbite brand push-on fittings. That way you avoid a problem I had when the retaining ring wouldn't fit over the PEX adapter. After I had it installed I saw a review video that used the Sharkbite fittings, and they clearly didn't have the problem I did.The reason I saw I may update this review after installation is something I ran into while testing. Once I had power connected, I hooked up the control panel and ran through the initial setup. It wouldn't connect to my phone using the Moen app, and that's required to get the full feature set of the shower. Moen support was helpful, but their hours of operation are limited and I had to hang up and go to work before we got the problem fixed. I'm taking 2 weeks vacation starting in a couple of days to get the shower finished, and I'll be able to stay on the phone with them as long as it takes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.Update after completion: I borrowed an iPhone, which went through the setup without a hitch, and the app on my Android recognized the controller - once. However the controller is working as it should, and I'm happy with it, although I will spend some time on the phone with Moen's technical support to at least try getting my phone to recognize it.Updated again: After three app updates, and a firmware update on the controller, the glitches with Android are resolved (no borrowing an iPhone to set it up), the glitches with "water saving mode" are resolved, and I'm very impressed by Moen's customer service. They stuck with the problem until it was fixed, and they contacted me several times in the process to assure me it was being done, and contacted me again when it was fixed. My shower has worked flawlessly for months.

Moen is with out doubt the worst company on Earth to do business with.
I will start by saying I was before this shower a huge Moen supporter, I have Moen fixtures at home, my weekend house, and work.I have had this shower for 4 years the software is a little flaky but it has worked fine, integrated into Alexa, etc.Two weeks ago this device stopped working, It has an error it is over temperature, (it was not as when you activate it just said the water was 125 degrees and shut down immediately. I went to the web and opened a ticket with Moen, and called them as well, They left me on hold for 3 hours, I did hang up. My ticket to them had a full description of the issue with pictures, a copy of the receipt, etc. 4 days later I got a coupon to purchase a Moen product at 75% off, I looked up the valve on the website it was $745, and even though the coupon said 75% off it has a maximum value of $120. I declined and called again, this time after 20 minutes the Moen phone system asked if I wanted a callback, I did opt-in, The earliest callback was 8 days away, I scheduled the callback. At this point my shower is not working for over a week, I have an upset wife so I ordered and installed a second shower valve, It worked once and had the same problem, at a cost of more than $400 for parts. Then 8 days later but two hours early of my scheduled support call I got an automated call. It was my scheduled support call. They had me wait on hold for 42 minutes, then I got an agent, He said he could not help as home automation products was a different department, and I needed to be in another queue, He said I would be first in line and the hold would be short. 1 hour 41 minutes later, I get an agent in the correct department. Now, this is the best part. This is a software update that has gone bad, It is a known problem they caused. There is no fix, maybe in a week or two, (they have contracted the embedded software to a third party (offshore)) They had made a corporate decision to keep this quiet and not to publicize or document the issues because they did not want to impact sales. At this point, now 11 days no response on the open ticket opened on the web (other than a coupon to purchase a replacement part at $250 more than the street price. I still have an issue. If they had bothered to share the known issues It would have saved me the time and money to replace the valve. If I could have known it was a software update I could have not hooked the replacement valve up to the internet and the new valve would have worked and at least been an expensive solution. All I can say is that Moen has no clue about customer service at all, They have unethical business practices. (concealing known issues) They have completely violated the trust in their brand.Even with the poor decision to keep the issue non-public, they could have responded to my open support ticket with the information and saved me a tremendous amount of grief. The idea that it takes a week to get a call back is insane, I will say the customer service agents were polite and professional, This is a case of management gone bad, I have hours into this issue, No shower in my master bathroom, This is the last Moen anything I will ever purchase, I recommend you run from anything with the Moen label on it.This is not to mention they are amateurs at remote device support, or that they have no facility to roll back software versions, they must do little or no testing and they apparently push new updates to the entire world at one time and don't monitor issues, They were overwhelmed with support calls.*** Update, 6 weeks after my initial issue. I did get a call from Moen customer support that stated the software has been fixed, and to connect the valve to the net and it will update automatically, They also offered and to re-pay me for the replacement valve, (I now have a spare) The software did update and the unit is working again. The customer service agent that called me was very professional and sympathetic to my plight and the refund did soften the blow. I still fault them for not posting a known issue to their knowledge base and the idea that a week to get a call back for a support issue is not reasonable (of course amplified by the fact the data was not available online). I may mollify my position on Moen products the faucets I have used work very well. This is a traditional company stumbling in the tech and customer service world with management that has made poor decisions and has little are no interest in the value of their brand.

Provides Great Shower Experience
The whole system including control unit, back up battery pack, all shower heads including handheld will set you back about $3k. In my opinion, it's worth it if you want to enjoy a great shower. You can get clean with a single head shower, but being able to have a full body shower takes things up several notches. Having a set temp means you're not fiddling with a knob to get the temp you like. It's automatic. We did a full shower replacement and I knew that this would be the center piece. Is it a luxury? Yes, but no regrets. Make sure you have an installer familiar with this system.
