Good.
This is a good series, somewhat dated. I was 20 when this was released & brings back good memories of the time. It's well written & well made. Very good actors. Recommended.

massive improvement on prior QAF DVD release versions
5 reasons why this 2006 "Definitive Collectors Edition" Queer As Folk is a vast improvement on the original DVD release versions and a necessary purchase for anyone who appreciates that this series was a landmark event in gay visibility, as well as one of the most compelling and engaging drama series ever produced.Reason #1: The original DVD of Series 2 was 16:9 anamorphic (as was stated on the cover), however the original DVD's of Series 1 were not 16:9 anamorphic, but the noticeably inferior 4:3 letterboxed - which not only meant that you were getting 25% less detail, but that the DVD's would not automatically display in the correct ratio on some widescreen systems (e.g. my LG portable cannot display it correctly at all). The 2006 version is true 16:9 anamorphic for both series.Reason #2: The originals had no commentary, but the 2006 version has relevant commentary for every episode - and for some of the extras - which is both entertaining and historically vital.Reason #3: All of the extras from the original DVD versions, plus a couple more, are here on the 4th disc - leaving space for maximum video quality for the series episodes on the other 3 discs.Reason #4: The 2006 version includes a superb 32 page "introductory book" with text by Russell T Davies complemented by lovely photos, and the scenes are clearly indexed where you first unfold the case. Each of the original DVD series only included a single slip with a scene index.Reason #5: The packaging is ultimately practical and stylish - including the label designs for the discs. The only improvement would have been to mention somewhere what each disc contains (which is Disc 1: Series 1 parts 1-4, Disc 2: Series 1 parts 5-8, Disc 3: Series 2 which is a 2 parter, Disc 4: all of the extra deleted scenes, documentaries, interviews, etc.)

queer as folk
brilliant series by c4, showing real life gay people ,except too much drugs in it, at least 95 % or more do not use drugs at all.also too much camp in it . a lot of gays are camp but as usual with tv and films ( all gays are queens ) . for every gay queen you see or now, there are at least 5 or more gays you don't know or suspect. the young boy was a scandal for the public but again it is somewhat true to life. there are many young gays that know they are gay but are too scared to tell parents or friends because of the nasty reactions a lot of them get also ieads to anyone older than them, even by a year is labelled a paedophile. I was surprised to notice JASON MERRELLS in it ( DECLAN from EMMERDALE ) who plays PHIL who dies early on of a drug overdose, but there are many more so called straight people who die of drugs overdose.and ANTONY COTTON in it from CORONATION STREET. but he played the stereo type gay who is a "screaming queen" as most people think of the normal gay person. That is why i liked BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN where the 2 main characters were shown as normal guys in life, not the queens usually portrayed in the media.

Simply a Must
This is really a must, you have no excuse why you have not seen it yet. So:If you are gay you probably have it already. If you don't just get one asap. You will wonder why on Earth you did not buy it earlier and ask for more. Fortunately, there is one more season waiting for you and the US version as well.If you aren't gay the best solution is to order it as a gift for a gay friend (if you think you haven't got any gay friends you probably have been lying to yourself since you turned 15 or some of your friends have been lying to you which is even worse but this series may help you understand why and change your ways) and have a sneak preview for one. A word of warning! You may want to keep it afterwards but don't worry. Your gay friend most probably has it already anyway.

Fantastic Series - both 1 & 2 are a must watch
Can highly recommend both the first and second series of Queer As Folk. I've just bought both series on DVD as I first bought it, many years ago after watching it on tv, on video tape!! So as it's been many years seen I watched the series due to no video player I decided it was time to replace by videos and have a Queer As Folk series fest in the next few weekends. The music in both series it brilliant and I'm totally amazed it's not had a rerun on tv. Great actors, some of which have gone on to do greater things. If cheeky banter, great music, brilliant storyline and a bit of steamy sex is your thing then you won't be disappointed.

One fo the best shows EVER
This show is pure quality - especially the 1st series. The script is slick (Russell T. Davies is a genius!), the acting is outstanding and the soundtrack is amazing!! If you can get past the shock of the graphic sex scenes in the first couple of episodes (which incidentally didn't bother me in the slightest, but I wouldn't have watched it with my granny!) you'll grow to love the characters and root for Vince in his plight of unrequited love.BUY THIS!!!!

Nowt as.....
Fantastic series of gay life in Manchester. The hedonistic Stuart rules Canal St, throwing away lovers and always after the next thrill. His friend Vince unable find true love parties with him but never gets the choice cuts! Enter the young boys and Nathan, eager for experiences, dazzled by the pulse, money and outgoing men around them. Families, loyalties, drugs, love, jealousy, bigotry, tragedy and laughs fill this series. Get it, hide it from granny....or not!

Tolle Zeitreise!

Spendid gay drama.
Original British edition of this iconic queer drama series. Edgier than the later America version, with beautiful acting. Interesting to compare the two versions and reflect on Transatlantic cultural differences.

Assolutamente consigliato.
