Tobin's Spirit Guide: Official Ghostbusters Edition (Nerd Block exclusive green variant cover)

Awesome tie in book with outstanding artwork.
I purchased the red Official Ghostbusters Edition of this because it was hardcover. After getting that one and seeing how good it was, I couldn't pass this one up, even if there wasn't any differences other than the covers. I did it because I think the green cover looks so much better than the red cover. If this one would have been hard cover I would likely have only purchased it.Unlike the poorly written version of the Tobin's Spirit guide with the brown cover, this one is very well written and I didn't note any grammar errors. Every entity has an outstanding black and white illustration for it. Some being single page pieces and some being nice two page spreads. The artwork is all based on either the movie versions or the art in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. These are not cartoon like illustrations though, they are all high quality illustrations with tons of details. There may be a few pieces that are completely original for the book. If you are a fan of everything that is Ghostbusters you will feel right at home paging through the book. They chose what I feel are the most popular of ghosts and spirits from the cartoons and movies.Comparing this one to the red cover version, this one has slightly darker background printing of the paper. That is the aged paper and slight blood stain effect. This is extremely minor and so small that people could likely find some hard cover books with a darker printing that the softcover. I've only got my two copies to compare, but I felt it worth pointing out.All said and done a worthy addition to your Ghostbusters collection.

Awesome Ghostbusters tie-in book.
The book arrived in excellent condition. Beautifully illustrated, well-written (very 'Stantzian/Spenglerian' wording), and thick enough to be worth the price. Highly recommended for Ghostbusters fans. The inclusion of a table of contents and an index is the only thing that would have made it even better.

This is one good-looking book.
I bought this as an old fan of the Ghostbusters, looking for something to shelve alongside the Lovecraft books, Necronomicons, and so on. It looks good inside and out - artist Kyle Hotz really knocks it out of the park. It's hardly comprehensive, but it does contain a who's-who of the more famous spooks that show up between the movies and the old cartoon. If you're interested in the fiction of Ghostbusters, I feel like it's a great price for what you get.

IF this is canon it's great, if it isn't canon IT SHOULD BE.
The foreword sets the premise, it's an abridged and updated version of Tobin's Spirit Guide. So it doesn't cover every possible ghost/supernatural type of entity. It does cover characters primarily encountered by the Ghostbusters, and not just the movies, includes Ghostbusters the videogame and Real Ghostbusters cartoon. With the above in mind, it feels incredibly short, which would be my sole complaint. It does add images for some of the referenced but not seen before characters (example other forms Gozer took during previous destructive rants). The references to the cartoon and videogame solidified this for me personally. Is it worth getting? If you're a Ghostbusters fan, no doubt. It's a fun read, with great illustrations, especially for the previously unseen characters.
