More appearance than functionality
This looks impressive at first glance, but it's not actually that great. It is not full tang (where the metal continues through the handle), and the praised olive wood feels too light. So it's not well balanced and overall, feels a bit flimsy. It is quite sharp, but not more so than my Sabatier Sheffield steel ones, where I got a whole set for this price. And which are more durable and better quality, overall. All the decoration and the olive wood are all a bit of a gimmick, to my mind. And in places, the etching, or whatever that is, goes right up to the edge, and that's got to affect your ability to care for and sharpen it. They give quite good instructions about how to look after it, mentioning frequent honing. When I got this, £29.99 seemed a bit steep, the current price is definitely not good value. Considering that, 4 stars is probably generous, but I've not used it much and am not an expert, so maybe it's better than it seems. This is a Vine Voice review, but I have provided my honest and unbiased opinion. I try to use or test all products, or if I can't, I at least check them. My rating system: 5 stars – great: as described, high quality 4 stars – good but has minor problems 3 stars – has significant issues 2 stars – bad: not as described or does not function or not useful for intended purpose, but has redeeming features 1 star – terrible: not as described or does not work or dangerous to use, no redeeming features

Not Damascus Steel And Mass Produced
This knife looks good, which if that's what you're after, fine, buy it. If you want a quality knife, look elsewhere. This is not Damascus steel. It's mass produced and stamped to look like it has many layers. It's not sharp It's poorly balanced It's extremely light It's uncomfortable to use Yes it cuts and yes you can sharpen it further, but the quality of the steel means this won't last long. Poor value in my opinion.

Excellent⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent chef’s knife for daily cooking. The blade is really sharp and slices through meat and veg easily. Handle sits comfortably in the hand for long prep sessions. Stays balanced and easy to control when chopping or dicing. Makes food prep quicker and more precise. Good value! Very pleased. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would certainly recommend.

Ok affordable knife
If you want a knife mainly for the aesthetic, this is a good option. It looks very fancy with a layered, 3D effect on the blade which makes it look very nice and high end and could make a nice gift. In terms of use, it does do the job. It has a nice sized blade and a handle which is quite comfortable to hold. It is quite light and decently sharp out of the box. I would say however that it doesn’t feel the best quality and I’m not sure how long it will last. The indents in the metal mean that it will eventually become difficult to sharpen and I don’t think the steel is that hard. It does say it is VG10 but there are various qualities of VG10 and this is almost definitely the cheaper version due to the feel and price. Overall, it is a nice looking knife and could make a nice gift but I don’t think it would last years or be any good in something more than a standard domestic kitchen.

A great addition to my kitchen
I am a novice in the kitchen and am slowly building my knife collection. These types of knife arent cheap but you do get what you pay for. It comes in a nicely presented box with a magnetic lip, I had to be here to sign for it when it arrived. The knife itself feels well balanced, personally i do prefer a more ergonomic handle rather than the octagonal type, but this apparently helps prevent slipping "even with oily hands" Have used it a couple of times and it is very good and very sharp .... i am very happy with this purchase (although i think all these knives are a tad expensive, hence my slowly building a collection). I would definitely recommend this +++AAA

Very sharp blade with good quality but on first impressions it looks cheap.
Very sharp blade with good quality but on first impressions it looks cheap. Now we do already own a few Premium cooking knives and 2 in particular are Damascus blades, however this is the first time owning a VG10 steel one. compared to the other 2 this one is a lot more mirror finished where as our others seem a lot more matt in appearance. Now upon opening the box and presented the knife the first thing you see is the indentations in the top of the blade, this to me cheapens the visual appeal of the blade as this is not a natural form, i would have liked to have seen the blade fault showing its full folded metal glory. once you get past this though and look at the markings on the bottom half of the knife it does show its quality. The age old test with a piece of paper does enforce visually how sharp this is, however using the phone to look at the cutting surface does show dimples and defects in the cleanness of its sharpening process used. The wooden handle in its hexagonal pattern does also look rather odd but is perfectly comfortable to hold and does stand out being different. Being constructed from VG10 steel this form research should hold its sharpness more easily however this material is also easy and accepting of being resharpend within a home environment as long as you have a proper sharpening set. Damascus metal and especially cooking knives do carry a premium price tag, i do find this one good value considering the price of our other 2 blades which are actually smaller blades, so for me this will become an integral tool in our kitchen so is a 4 star product.
