Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Not as good as the show, but a good watch

Christmas present for my son who likes these Japanese cartoon films.

The dub and the sub are on the disc but unfortunetly the person that was responsible for the main menu was a bit sloppy. In order to use subtitles or to listen the dubbed version you have to use the blu ray's menu (while it plays) not the discs main menu and quite a few reviewers were a bit too quick with their review.

On watching 'Cowboy Bebop: The Movie' all i could think at first was 'WOW'...This is the kind of film that really keeps you interested. There's not one dull moment to be found amongst the plotting, the drama, the tension, the aircraft chase...Speaking of the aircraft chase, what an awesome scene. Kimitoshi Yamane's mechanical designs coupled with Masami Goto's brilliant execution of their moves and speeds creates a scene that was so close to real life it was breath-taking. Yoko Kanno's music, too, added an extra hint of excitement and tension to the scene, bringing it all together in one stunning scene. Excellent stuff.The plot is easy enough to follow, yet gripping enough to keep you hooked right til the end (and what an end it is). It also works well as a stand alone from the series - although the characters featured are pretty much the same, the plot can be follwed without any prior experience of the show. I've never seen an episode in my life, yet loved the film (and will now probably invest in a few episodes from he series...^_^)The characters in this film leave nothing to be desired - they're all great. Spike has a cool, dangerous air about him, but also a sense of lovableness somewhere deep down. he's the kind of guy people want to be or be around. Plain and simple - he's the perfect action guy, without being too cheesey-Hollywood-hero about it all. He has his faults, but that makes him seem all the more human. His fellow bounty hunters are also done well, we feel for them, we laugh with them and above all, we love to watch them. It's the perfect cast.And bad guy Vincent is not without his charms - as the tall dark mysterious baddy we almost feel for him as the film goes on, trying tp figure out who he really is, and why he does what he does.Provoking emotive responses in it's audience, nothing about this film can be faulted. Even the slightly hyperactive Edward (who I was forewarned about being annoying) grew to be quite sweet.This movie comes packed to burst with action, using stateof-the-art animation and stunning characters to draw you into a world of pure adventure. Awesome, and for this price, you should buy it.

There is a reason while Cowboy Bebop has been enormously popular in Japan as well as Europe and the States - that reason is because it is brilliant. The animation is beautiful - certainly better than the TV series due to the bigger budget - but this is matched by the excellent story line and voice acting. If only a lot of the cruddy American and European films and TV series showed the same dedication to the writing quality! The English dub (which, if you're honest, can be pretty horrible or laughable in some anime films) is also very good. In short, the story is set a little time before the end of the series, and concerns an apparently random terrorist act on Mars that leads to an irresistable bounty, a very dangerous antagonist and a high level conspiracy. The charactisation of the main protagonist - Spike Spiegel - as well as his 'friends' on the ex fishing vessel the Bebop, is so good in this film that pre-existing knowledge of the series is not necessary. The writing is so good that you may even feel a twang of understanding for the bad guy. The action sequences are pretty exciting and not a frame of film is wasted. After watching this, I went off the buy the series because I just needed more!Of note are the extras. There are interviews with both the Japanese and English voice cast, as well as an interesting section that compares the storyboards with the final animation (cool if you're an anime afficianado). The music is ace too - take note of the Yoko Kanno who's worked on a number of anime films and series.At this budget price, it's nothing short of a crime to not have this in your collection.

I thoroughly recommend this movie for any Bebop fans out there. It's an excellent adaptation of the show, it really feels like one big episode. I would recommend that you watch the show first though, it will introduce you to the characters and teach you about them, which this movie doesn't really do. I consider it to be the cherry on top of the Bebop franchise, although it is a great movie, it's best enjoyed as a treat after you finish the main series.I was worried before watching it that it was going to spoil me about the ending of the series (so I finished watching the series first) however it take place between episodes 22-23 so if that concerns you have no worries! It's in glorious 16:9, which I really appreciated. The VA is great as to be expected, and there's multiple nods to running gags that appear throughout the show. I know this is really nit-picky but one thing that I would've preferred would be that they had beef and bell peppers rather that instant noodles, but alas they chose to leave that little bit out. Not to worry though because it's a fantastic action movie which really keeps you at the edge of your seat with two great femme fatales and plenty of comedy sprinkled throughout! :)

If you liked the orignal series, or the equally good live action version then this is a must.

Love it shame had to get separately from the rest of the series but we'll worth getting all the same

Who would have thought in a world of seemingly infinite streaming services it would be so hard to find this movie available to watch? Well turns out it is, and if I'm going to buy it I might as well buy physical. So that's exactly what I did!I bought this along with the 25th Anniversary box set for the TV Series and this will fit perfectly on display with that. Not to mention I have no more need to worry about the hassle of streaming it, I can just pop it right in and enjoy it as a supplement to the full series.

I was skeptical at first, not knowing if it would work on my dvd player but it works perfectly. Was in perfect condition and the video quality was sharp, all I had to do was change the language through my dvd player.

Para quienes deseen ver la película y aún no han visto o terminado de ver el anime, les aseguro que no es necesario, la película se desarrolla por sí misma y proporciona suficiente contexto.El Blu-Ray luce un tanto distinto a las cajas habituales, incluso llegué a pensar que era pirata, pero al abrirlo se disiparon mis dudas. Si aún lo encuentran disponible aprovechen, es raro encontrar una manera legal de ver esta gran obra.

Film aussi chouette que la série, superbe .Je ne me lasse pas de le revoir .Merci Lookos .

You‘re gonna carry that weight...Nach Beenden der Serie wollte ich unbedingt den Movie zu Cowboy Bepop sehen. Dachte lange, dass der Film leider nicht auf deutsch erhältlich sei bis ich auf das Angebot hier gestoßen bin.Habe den Film als One-Disc Version bestellt, da hier auch die deutsche Synchro Fassung mit enthalten ist. Zudem finden sich auf der Disc auch englische und japanische Originalfassung.Teils weichen die deutschen Synchronstimmen von den original Sprechern der Serie ab (z.B. bei den 4 Hauptcharakteren) aber die neuen Synchronsprecher leisten ebenfalls gute Arbeit und der Film verliert dadurch nichts.Die Story und das Setting des Films hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Der neue Antagonist sowie Electra waren ein guter Zuwachs für den Cast. Zusammengefasst einfach ein Muss für jeden Cowboy Bebop Fan.Zustellung erfolgte schnell und zufriedenstellend....see you space cowboy!
