BeeHive Golden Corn Syrup, 1000 Milliliter/1 Litre

More expensive than the regular syrup but worth it

I have been eating this syrup on toast, ice cream, French toast and just by the spoon since I was a little girl. Until it became available on Amazon you had to go to Canada to purchase it. Lucky me my mom was born in Canada so before Covid I went to Canada once a year to stock up for me and my grown children and to visit relatives. Try this! It is a wonderful treat!

This syrup has a smooth and wonderful taste. I have used this for years and managed to find a source again. It is excellent as a topping for ice cream especially.

I purchased this product specifically to make honeycomb (or "sponge") candy. The recipe I used was thoroughly demonstration on youtube -- and called for "GOLDEN corn syrup". I could not find the product they used anywhere in stores or on the internet so turned to Amazon and found Beehive. However, even after following the recipe EXACTLY, the end result came out so sticky/hard a person could easily break a tooth on it. It was dangerous to consume and so had to throw it away. Honeycomb is supposed to be light, crisp/crumbly and melt in the mouth. All I can figure is that Beehive is a blend of sugar types. They do not list the ingredients on the Amazon page -- so here they are: glucose, glucose-fructose, fancy molasses, water and salt. Beehive has a pleasant taste, and can be drizzled like honey, but why even bother? Natural honey is easy to find anywhere and is much less expensive. I am sure Beehive shines when used for recipes specifically created for it -- and people who grew up eating these recipes have a great nostalgia for them, but do not expect to get decent results if using it to make honeycomb candy, or any recipe where the objective is not merely to sweeten, but to achieve a specific textural reaction.
