All other reviews have some truth but are faulty.
Ok, so. I found that it works as designed, though is not without fault itself.I set it up for 2 channel dmx use. Hooked it to an Enttec ethernet to dmx unit and controlled it with an ipad, using Luminaire 3. It worked fine except the minimum dimness has to be set because it causes a flicker at low settings. More on that in a sec.In the parameter settings, four (and more) parameters can be set:1. Decode can be set for 1 or 2 channels. Looks like that is 1 or 2 ch. dmx.2. Control is set to reverse but can be set to normal (dmx) phase. Reverse worked fine for me.3. Minimum brightness is the lowest the lights will go when they are turned on. So, if set too low, per the light or in reality, per the dimmer, the light will flicker. I had to put that at 25. The lights still turn off. They just won't go as low as I would want them to without flicker.4. Auto blank screen on or off turns off the display, as previously mentioned.5. idk? Is not listed in the manual. but there is def an adjustable setting. It starts as dFF and goes 0-9 and then starts at lower case a and goes up from there through FF. Didn't explore yet but may edit this review if/when I figure it out.

One I figure out how to get DMZ into it from a ESP or Raspberry will probably be just dandy. That part I haven't gotten sorted yet. DMX is oddball to encounter except in pro lighting. It's just RS485 with some extra electrical weird added to it.

Beware of this product. The address decoding seemed to work if no other DMX fixtures are on the Dmx line. However, Full brightness, for example, could not be achieved at address 1, but could be at address10. If sent to address 10, data values at other addresses below 10 affected the brightness also. One could work with that if one were not using this with other Dmx fixtures. I.E. This module is not decoded properly and causes trouble in general applications. Also, if the bulb being driven shorts out, the Dmx controller shorts out permanently. Otherwise it works well.

acceptable for the cost
needed something just like this. the only "negative" is that the DMX signalis are wired polarity-backwards from what the US typically uses. Once that's figured out, the unit works as expected.

Works great with LED downlights and DX8 controller
I am using two of these to control a total of 18 dimmable mains LED downlights (from Screwfix). I previously tried another Chinese DIN Rail mounted DMX dimmer, which supposedly used trailing edge dimming, but at anything below about 50% brightness several of the lights flickered. This one has no such problems, and I can now dim my downlights to just the right level - very useful as 18 of them at full blast is remarkably bright!I am using with a DX8 RGBW controller. I am using one of the controller zones and assigning the dimmer outputs to the R,G and B channels so I am able to control my lights in three groups. I could potentially use four groups by using the W channel on the DX8, but this particular controller handles W differently from R,G and B so 3 groups is adequate for my application. One really handy feature is the auto display-off function that can be configured. This turns off the display when buttons have not been pressed for a few seconds - useful in my application because the dimmers are hidden away in a recess and if they had a light or display on all the time, this would be visible.

Will not work as expected (for me)
I have tried two of these units now, and I cannot work out how to make it work in stand-alone or DMX mode. The instructions (which are written in pigeon English) are very vague. They explain how to adjust the settings - which I have been able to do - but there is now indication (that I can see) of how to get the unit to enter a controllable mode. It just cycles the light through its various states.I am experienced in stage lighting, and have qualifications in electronics, but this one has me baffled.

Excellent product
Product worked great, had it installed as part of a bigger job with around 80 other DMX fittings connected to the lighting system. I had this on its own DMX feed and it caused no issues as per another review. Quick delivery too which got me out of trouble as needed it desperately!

Works great as a dimmer, however adjusting the minium value does not do what you'd expect.
This functions great as a dimmer for every dimmable (and some non-dimmable) LEDs I've tried, however although it has an option to adjust the minimum value, this does not adjust the dimming scale, rather just doesn't turn on until it reaches that value. If you set 20% as the minimum value, it'll do nothing at all from 0-19%, then turn on at that minimum value when you reach 20%.This feels like a simple software issue, however there is unfortunately no way to upgrade/update it.
