Jonty Gentoo: The Adventures of a Penguin

A cute book on a penguin's journey to find his kind. Like other books from the same author, this book is also promoting beliving in oneself and following one's heart/dream.

A really fun read aloud in the school library all the way up through 3rd grade. There are tons of extensions you can do in terms of arctic animal research. I love everything by this creative duo, but this one stands apart (from those I've read so far) in that it has realistic science research.

I am a mostly Charlotte Mason homeschool mom and am always looking for "living books" (books that tell a story with facts woven throughout). This adorable story shares the journey of a gentoo penguin escaping captivity and finding his way back to Antarctica. As a former science teacher, I appreciate the scientific accuracy of the story. The illustrations aren't my favorite, but the story has been enjoyed over and over again by my 2, 4, and 6 year old.

I am a teacher and love reading Julia Donaldson's books to my students! She is such a great children's author! Her books are creative, unique, funny, and clever. We never get tired of reading them!

I purchased two books for my grandchildren in memory of my dad. He was an oceanographer and spent time in Antarctica. I told the girls that he was hanging out with a lot of friends down there! They love the story and there was a lot of information for them to learn.

We LOVE Julia and Axel (first name basis around this house)! Julia did it again! Jontey is a great story and as always, a strong message for my little one. We have so much fun finding our favorite “tiny perfect thing” in the art of each page decorated by axel. Thank you for another great!
