Who knew quality matters in anchovies?
I used to think that anchovies were anchovies, and then I read an article about this brand and, it was quite taken with the adorable little boxes. Because I use raw anchovies in pasta and salad dressing, the texture and the taste really do matter (as opposed to throwing a couple in a pot of tomato sauce for a little extra umami.). These were absolutely outstanding. I did not know that potential could be this good! These are plump and meaty and flavorful. Not only would I buy them again, I have bought them again.

A huge disappointment
The media could not be loaded. At least two of my tins are complete and total mush (didn't open the third). I took the video after I opened one. Then opened another to see if it was a one-off. Nope. I bought these for Spanish pintxos and there is NO way to skewer an anchovy. Plus the flavor was absolutely terrible- just tasted like solid salt. I know anchovies are salty (I had plenty of them in Spain), but these are NOT for eating whole. Maybe in a salad dressing it would be diluted enough? I am sad- this is supposed to be an amazing brand, but I won't buy Fishwife again.

Just salty enough, good flavor
The saltiness you love with anchovies, plus a very good Umami of the fish. I guess you'll have to look up "umami" as one of the Basic Flavors.The fish are laid flat, not in individual rolls like we see in some tinned anchovies.The boxes are works of art, if I had the space I'd probably collect the boxes!

Save your money, these are not great.
If you’ve ever been to Spain and enjoyed Anchoas de Cantabria…. These are nothing like them. Too salty, too bony, mushy with no firmness. Meh. Save your money.
