At 70, I still react to certain things like a kid, and snow globes are one of those things. Instead of a globe, this is a snow box where you can place a picture, saying, or photo inside the back cover. I did need to use a butter knife wrapped in a paper towel to get the back acrylic plate off (there is an opening to put your finger in so you can pull it off). I had just as much trouble replacing the backing so it would stay (there was piece of acrylic bumped up that I filed down, and now it works fine). I placed two photos of my grandsons inside the frame. Once the back was on correctly, the pictures stayed put wherever they were placed. The acrylic seems to have a slight haze to it when looking at the photos. That might be from the liquid inside and not the actual acrylic material. There is also a white projection within the snow globe part. I suggest you put that at the bottom where the glitter will pretty much cover it, and it won't be as noticeable.Now, it's showtime for the glitter! There are silver/holographic stars and moons along with lots of fine, silver glitter. After shaking the frame and turning it upside down and then back up, there was such a glittery snowstorm! The photos could be seen within 10 seconds, and almost everything had made it to the bottom by 20 seconds. A few stragglers eventually reached the bottom within minutes. Overall, this frame is enjoyable and well made (minus that extra plastic bump). I am sure I will display this frame year round so I can enjoy the free falling glitter mixture right along with my grandkids.

I think this is a whimsical frame that would make a cute gift or quirky statement piece on a shelf. I wish I had gotten the larger size...that's my fault for not thinking through what size most of my photos are, but I will find something that fits. It seems sturdy, and the photo simply slides in between the plexiglass panes.I would encourage the company to reduce the amount of glitter by a little bit- it seemed like it had so much that it shadowed the photo to the extent that it was sometimes difficult to even see what was in the photo.
