Robust and easy to use on heavy soils.
Used on a heavy clay soil prior to sanding and levelling an old lawn. The hollow tines did get clogged but I expected that. They are quite big diameter and were fairly easy to clean with the provided tool. Even when clogged it was easier and more effective than using a fork. The trough to collect the plugs is nice and makes for a more comfortable foot rest to push it down. Comes with decorative black caps for the bolts, but don’t bother truth those as the just fall off ( not effecting performance)

Effective
Need soft ground to be efficient . Hard work if not, but overall very effective and does the job. A good work out!

Brilliant piece of kit
I don't often leave reviews but used this today and it is excellent. Just the job. Had looked into hiring an electonic/petrol aerator but couldn't justify the expense. This bit of kit works so well and collects the tubes of grass/mud so you dont have to go round picking it up after. Goes into the soil really well and comes out smoothly. It is hard work and better for smaller lawns. Mine is medium sized so is going to take a bit of work but the kit works brilliantly. Very happy.

Aerator you have to buy.
I love this! I don’t love the manual labour, but by god it’s made well, it does the job brilliantly. If I had to moan about anything it would be the collector, I was getting bored walking back and forth to my pile. Next purchase a wheel barrow, but this tool is brilliant and has helped my lawn. You would have to use it as a hammer to break it! Yep 10/10. Now if only they made a motorised one, that would be 11/10

Holes are very big and it clogs up regularly. Did the job but took a long time.

Take That, Compacted Soil
I thought I’d treat the lawn to a spa day and got this. It’s solidly built, easy to use, and pulls out tidy plugs of soil with every push – exactly what my tired lawn needed. The storage tray is a bit of a bonus feature – I kept gloves and snacks in it. Doesn’t feel like it’ll bend or break any time soon. Great for improving drainage and oxygen flow – and making you feel like a proper gardener.

Good for small areas
Robust tool. Used when there has been a fair amount of rain. Scarified the dead areas about 5m2. Found it easier to only punch one new hole with each use. Clogging varied across the area used on as did ease of pushing into grass/soil. Used on 17/18 June. Sowed seed and added some top top dressing and compost . Photos show after holes made and the grass as at 11July.

Not work as I expected
I hear the core aerator causes less soil compaction, so I bought this one for a trial. The results are disappointing. No matter whether the ground soil was dry or wet, the soil kept stuck in the hollow tines after a few punches. I would have returned it if not the tines are already full of scars, as I had to frequently clean out the stuck soil. The black paint coating also easily comes off, and it is now starting to rust. I eventually did find a workaround by using a garden hose to fill the tray with water after each punch. Keeping the tines' internal wall extremely wet seems to allow the soil to move more easily and reduce the blockage frequency. But for all these hassles, I would not recommend the product to a friend. I will probably go back to using my garden fork.
