This Hand Crank Siren is built well and when you start turning the crank; it gets loud... Fast! There's actually a little volume lever that you hook with your finger and hold down for full volume or loosen for less. It just covers up spots where sound comes out. The sound that comes out is a loud siren building up quickly. I could see many uses for this siren/warning system. This sound travels a long distance. Do be a bit careful because I took a chunk out of my finger with the crank. It gets a bit too close to the main unit so it can bite you if your not careful. It easily opens to hold & spin the crank. It also folds away easily. You could use this for an early warning system for floods or fires, etc. Pretty cool to just call the kids in for dinner too if you live in the country like we do! Better than hollering!

It is not as loud as advertised. There is no way that I could use it for an emergency siren on our worksite. No one would hear it...
