I'm new to essential oil use with careful research, and this was one of the first two oils I ever bought, and from Eden's Garden. I had not had previously known experience with Clary Sage but like the benefits offered. I mainly bought this as a euphoric calming agent for bad days where my antidepressant doesn't help me enough. Secondary benefits are menstrual cycle use. And clary sage just smells beautiful- floral, herbal, feminine. This is one of many great essential oils with various uses. As mentioned, I mainly use as aromatherapy, usually at night. I will sniff it straight or apply a small amount. I've tried a dab on my third eye and it's not irritating to my skin but I seemed to get the slightest headache for a little bit, so it should mainly be diluted. I made a lovely linen spray using 20 drops, a half portion of vodka and half water. It does have such a great calming effect. It is advisable to avoid driving, and alcohol makes clary sage's effects more apparent. As far as menstrual use goes, I've only been through one occasion at the time of writing this review. I mixed a few drops with lotion and rubbed on my abdomen and lower back twice, and it relaxed my minor cramps well. I should note that I am on hormonal birth control so I do not currently experience a natural cycle, and do not experience intense symptoms as I once did so can't compare. I do know that clary sage may act in a way to mimic estrogens, and as far as I've read the full, long term effects aren't known but clary sage is known to be safe for most people. Ask a professional if estrogen is a risk factor for your health, and seek extensive information. Another purpose of clary sage is cosmetic use as a toner or scalp treatment to fight oily hair. I haven't yet tried the latter, but I've tried it as a toner a few times. It seemed to give my combination skin a bit of an oily effect and may have encouraged a few emerging spots. I have not fully explored its effects and results are inconclusive so far. I'm still experimenting with clary sage's uses, but I love its smell, antidepressant and pms relaxant effects. I am very happy with the Eden's Garden oils I've bought so far, they are great quality and unbeatable price. I am not a professional, all opinions and experiences are my own, and I encourage informed use of this product.

I'll admit to initially feeling skeptical because good quality Clary Sage oil is not so inexpensive. I'm happy that I suspended disbelief and made the purchase. One of the aspects of good Clary Sage is an earthy/smoky note that evolves and becomes more pronounced in the dry down. At first bright, almost like lemon, the smoke quality begins to emerge as the top note mellows. A fragrance similar to lavender is also present. This is consistent with the scent of the plant: break a bit off a leaf and you'll observe the same scents. Although this is not a blend, the characteristics of many plants and their extracted oils behave as though they are combined scents. It is that base note that tells me it's a good essential oil and the "real deal". The scent seemed to depart in entirety after about six hours. I used the undiluted Essential oil directly on my skin (I live dangerously, perhaps?) and was surprised that it dissipated so quickly. I'll try it in dilute form. Perhaps a good carrier oil will extend the life of the scent. As an aside: the prices for the oils are surprisingly low, so it's perhaps unfair to complain about the cost of shipping. It was a bit weird to pay about 3/4ths the price for shipping as the cost of two essential oils purchased in a single order. I assumed there would be a combined shipping cost, but this was not the case. The oils were shipped quickly and packed safely, which is always terrific. I suppose these folks need to eat and pay their utility bills like the majority of the rest of us. Considering such high quality at low cost, it's perhaps mean-spirited to expect not to pay double shipping for two oils sent in a single mailer via First Class mail. So what may appear less expensive than a competitor's product may indeed be offset by how that competitor structures their shipping prices. I would recommend including a couple of small vials of other Essential Oils as "Testers", which typically increases sales while taking a bit of the sting out of the high shipping costs.

I had never heard of this until I looked up essential oils for menstrual cramps and this is what was the number one recommended oil was. I have suffered from excruciating menstrual pain since I was a kid and as most Dr,s tell you it gets better with age..... Well that is a flat out lie! I got to the point where I was tired of popping pills every couple hours just to get slight relief and by slight I mean bearable relief. So when I came across this I thought why not give it a try. I honestly didn't think it would make much of a difference but boy was I in for a shock! Clary Sage worked wonders for my pain not only was it bearable it was almost completely gone. Lets just say I don't plan on turning back to over the counter pain meds when I have this available. And the best part is it only takes a few drops. The smell is not too strong and actually rather relaxing. I would highly recommend this for anyone to try. I also suffer from migraines which I have read this works well for too. I have not yet tried it with my migraines as I normally turn to peppermint oil for that but in the future I plan to. Very quick shipping from the seller as well as informative information about essential oils provided. This is a nice size for the amount it costs. Super glad I gave this a chance.

This is actually the first clary sage essential oil I have ever used, so I am a little turned off by the particular aroma. I'm not sure if it's just a personal thing, but as far as uses for this I'm quite pleased. I purchased it to help with fertility--combining it with fennel has really put my cycle back on track. When I read somewhere it worked for hair, I put a drop in shampoo... and found it did better than the lemongrass I bought specifically for that purpose. So yay there. I highly trust Eden's Garden for quality and loved the oils in the past, so I really am assuming this might be one of those cases where I just don't care for the smell despite the oil's efficacy. As far at that goes, it is quite a pure smell and in all regards this is top notch.
