SMASH. I would buy this again.
Great traditional broom. It's great for the outdoors as well (concrete/pavement/brick/etc.). Hard to clean but it's a broom. I've had mine for years. Simple. Durable. Effective. I would buy this again. SMASH.

Great traditional broom!
***2016 Update: It is still a broom, still sweeps, and still does a great job of it. It STILL hasn't lost any bristles, and even survives the imagination of a 6 year old playing Harry Potter with it. I wish everything I bought in 2013 was this sturdy and reliable. It's a broom. It sweeps. It does a good job of it. It's not too firm, not too flexible. It hasn't started loosing any of it's bristles yet (and doesn't show any signs of doing so in the near future. It's a real, full size broom, and I'm glad I was able to find one so nice for such a decent price! (I really don't like the all-plastic ones)

Not that Heavy Duty
After putting up with ridiculously and clearly inaccurate information, over and over again, regarding the shipment of this broom, waiting nearly a month for Amazon to produce it, and needing to grab it from my neighbor's house where it was erroneously delivered, I am less than impressed. It's certainly a solid outdoor broom and a good weight, but the bristles are not stiff enough to warrant a "heavy-duty" or "industrial" rating. It works for my purposes, and I would buy it again for my current needs, but if you need a broom for industrial or near-industrial uses, buy at your local hardware store where you can "test drive" your options.

Great Old fashioned broom
So glad they still make these brooms. Used to think I'd have to go to the Vermont Country Store to find a really good old broom, but here it is on amazon quick and easy.... great broom!

Corn broom commentary, and this one is a pretty good broom choice
I am beginning to see myself as a corn broom aficionado, having purchased a number of them for use around the house. Some might wonder exactly why I would want as many as I have, but I have found that not all corn brooms are created equally.I have a corn broom that I purchased, not sure where or when, but it was certainly within the past 2-3 years. It is amazing, as it has a nice heavy weight without being too heavy; a nice "heft", that renders it up to the usual indoor and outdoor patio sweeping tasks; fiber that is sewn in to not fall out frequently; and a rubber cushioned thicker handle that makes it actually a pleasure to have to sweep. This broom is not quite that broom. It is a good broom, but the straw is "splaying", meaning that the bristles are beginning, with extremely light use, to spread out. I like my brooms' bristles to remain tightly grouped. Hence, I am not as happy as I could be with this broom. It does have a thicker handle, and that is good. Corn brooms should, as I see it, have nice, thick handles. Skinny metal handles will never suit my needs. Neither will thin wooden handles. This broom's handle is, however, slightly shorter than the handle on my "super" broom. Not shorter by many inches, but shorter, nonetheless. My fear is that this broom may not last as long as I would want, given the usage requirements I have. I neither need, nor intend, to use this broom for heavy sweeping. And so, the performance so far for the meager, light tasks for which I have used it cause me mild concern regarding the expectation that I have that this broom will be with me in a couple of years. Or perhaps, it will still be in my collection in a few years after very light use, but will show signs of wear disproportionate to usage.I will have to wait and see, and may simply need to keep searching for the ultimate corn broom, one to match the one "super" broom I was simply lucky to have found and purchased another time, someplace else.

A very good broom and now at an even better price!
See my pictures of this broom after 17 months of outdoor use. I ordered a new one at a price of $16.96. Between the time of purchase and delivery the price decreased to $10.30 and Amazon was kind enough to refund the $6.66 difference. When was the last time an item was reduced 40%? Is it being discontinued? It's made in Mexico. Have wages in Mexico become worse? I'm tempted to order another. As you can from my pictures, the first broom was well used. I would suggest not leaving it outside. When new, the broom is also good for indoor use on carpets as the fibers are sufficiently stiff to remove small debris.

A brush is a brush is a brush, but...
I am delighted with my broom. It is terrific, it is so good that one can still buy a good product on Amazon. It takes more time checking what is out there these days, but it can be done.... If you need a good broom, get this one. I love the quality and weight and it does a good job. It was very well packed and it arrived quickly.

real broom for real sweeping
I'm old school in a lot of ways (refuse to have/use a blower on my deck, porch, and walkways because that's just lazy) and love that this is the type of broom I grew up with and remember (versus a lot of the plastic junk I see now). Well made, feels good in your hands, and brooms as a good broom should. I'm on my second one as the corn fiber bristles do wear down over time, and I held back from 5 stars because it does drop stray bristles now and again, but all in all this is a quality product.
