Beat The Education Grifters
If you read this before you attend or send your kids to school of any sort you will very likely know more than the entire teacher staff about learning. Very few teachers understand learning and are just educational grifters. Have fun and beat the educational con game for under $5 for the Kindle edition. LOL

Excellent Book
The book is cheap, concise and flows easily. The author presents his information with facts and scientific research, which reassuring. I've always been a hard working student, but my study techniques weren't the most effective(re-writing notes over and over and reading them out loud). I'm excited to spear head my study routine with the recall technique and I will update my comment in a few months with my progress!

I loved the summaries at the end of each chapter.
I am an RN and a mom for two elementary school kids. I love to learn and want to teach my children the same love. This book taught me so much I can teach my kids. When I was growing up, I never learned how to study. I wish I could have known the methods in this book when I was in school. Bought this for my kindle at 4$! What a deal!

Conversation on the Modern Key to Success
I read this book in supplement with Accelerated Learning by Leonard Bell and found this book much more enjoyable in comparison. It goes over how not to learn, how to be better in acquisition of knowledge, obstacles, and ways to test how deep our knowledge really runs.Leonard Bell's book was more rigid and I am skeptical on if playing classical music really improves learning ability. Peter provides a better overview of the whole process with several leads on how to remove bad study habits and replace them with better ones.Anyone in college or requiring the passing of an exam or test to further their career should read this book; if you're going to bother to learn you may as well learn how to learn correctly.

Amazing.
Like so many other reviews have stated, growing up I sucked at studying. I never really grasped the concept of a subject unless I really enjoyed it. And even then, it was iffy. This has truly allowed me to look within myself, and figure out the best way for me to “learn”. Funny to even have to say. This book has changed my life.

Mentoring Memory and Motivation
Having just finished reading this book, my first by this author, I feel delighted at finding so many things that are important and new to me (such as shorter study sessions, more active learning, interleaving subjects). No way-out philosophy here ... but things that made sense and backed up with clear explanations and references. I became increasingly excited to put his suggestions into practice, and the further I read, the more motivated I felt to recommit to my own personal learning journey. I highly recommend this book to others. I am looking forward to reading other books (there are quite a few) by Peter Hollins on related subjects. Very impressive!

Good introduction
This book provides a concise introduction to some key topics in learning. It was perhaps a little too brief, but this is compensated for to some extent by the breadth of topics covered; however, the lack of detail can occasionally make it a little confusing. As an introduction to learning, however, I would recommend this book, but do not view it as an exhaustive guide, more of a "setting the scene" book.

Great summary - could be more actionable
Good summary of various thoughts, processes and patterns for learning effectively. Personally would liked to have seen more detail on *applying* everything discussed.

Awesome book!
This is worth a buy! This is coming from someone who is in graduate school, and whose comprehension sometimes fails her from physical exhaustion and anxiety. LOL! But seriously, this book is good.

An Energizer
Though I'm yet to actively implement any of the strategies that Hollins has mentioned, I see the immense value in the steps he has clarified down for the lost learner. He has helped pinpoint more than a few failures in my present learning strategy, as I begin to prepare for a really tough examination and am often in danger of demotivation and depression. Thank you, Peter, for that.Another thing I noticed was that there was no smug twaddle in the book. The tone is more of a teacher or a guide who is evidently interested in the reader's progress. I can see why the book has good ratings; I blew through it in around 2 hours and came away with a lot more insight on my learning process. However, there are some gaps where Hollins seems to start explaining a method of study, but then just peters of (no pun intended). The idea on circadian rhythms is one such factor. It seems to be a stray thread in an otherwise strong cord of thought in the first chapter. I understand the high level of personalization that scheduling via ultradian rhythms would require, but an example would've been nice. There's another stray idea somewhere in the book, which eludes me at the moment. These could've either been explained or avoided altogether. With references to expert studies and a lot of examples, Hollins makes a strong case for picking yourself up, dusting off and trying one more time.

Nice book for opening mind towards learning.
The author has nicely arrange topics and ideas on learning which help in opening mind to understand or measure ourselves as to where we stand in the field of learning and gives directions we can go to achieve our goals of learning. For those who want quick fix techniques of speed learning, I don't think this book is for them. All the best to Author.
