The lid doesn't seal and these definitely cannot be stacked on each other (to save space). Go with a studier one like Ice Walrus. These are too flimsy.

This item is advertised for making huge ice cubes and would work wonderfully for that purpose. I actually got this to store ice cubes made with our ice maker. The problem that this item solves for me is this. When I empty the ice maker basket, the ice cubes are wet and will stick together in a clump when I put them in a bag in the freezer. I bang the bag on its side to dislodge the clumps of ice, which damages the bag and I will have to replace the bag often. I was looking for a more sturdy item to replace the bags, for less waste. I've also tried thick plastic containers. But they become brittle when frozen and create even more waste. This ice block mold is perfect for this use. When the ice cubes stick together, I just tap the mold on the counter and the cubes come apart much easier, because the material is bouncy and has the give needed to break them up without breaking the container. The material won't become brittle from freezing, so I can use it over and over. I will probably never need to replace it. I'm so glad to have found the perfect solution to my ice storage challenge in this product!

I must confess I was not expecting much when I ordered this, but am very pleased with this product. I will say that the most important feature is the lid. With the lid in place I can put this in my freezer and not worry that something will fall in while freezing. The resulting block is easy to remove and last a long time. Just a much larger version of the ice tray I used as a kid. Great product!
