This is a solidly built unit and fits perfectly in the place of the old oak hand rail that has been in the house for decades.This went together quickly and was able to mark the holes for the wall brackets without trouble. It's a definitely a two person job to hold it up and make sure it aligned at a 45° to 50° angle. I took a tape measure and pencil marked the old hand rail brackets to provide a clear guide to match the new hand rail alignment. I kept the mounting Allen screws on the brackets slightly loose to allow adjustment to contact the wall on all three (3) brackets without sliding up or down the new hand rail.My only criticism is that it has to be measured at each end to find those end brackets and be equally spaced at 11.5 inches or 28 cm from the ends of the rail.It looks great and holds pull/shear weight of 450 lbs or 205 kg spreading across the whole wall brackets enough to allow two people to walk up or down without fear of it pulling out of the wall should someone slip and fall using the rail to catch themselves securely.

Well built and feels solid, one star off for needing to be screwed together and having two joints in middle but barely noticeable by feel and practically invisible. If I could feel the joints I would have returned. So to that it is very well made.

I got the 11 foot version. It only comes with 3 brackets. Because of how the studs are on my steps I bought an additional bracket (ask their customer service for the link). You really want to find a stud & not use the plastic sleeves into only drywall for any railing.Fit & finish we're good. Smoother than expected. The joints don't meet up precisely but are close enough & there's nothing to snag your skin on. 11 feet railing covers 12 steps. If you have a typical 13-14 steps you can install this short of the bottom step.I managed to install it by myself. I marked the studs with blue tape and did the bottom bracket first with the bottom screw a little loose so I could pivot it. Then put in 1 set screw to hold the rod & then raise the top end of the railing, mark & mount that bracket. (slide the middle bracket on before securing the top bracket) Measure from the stair nose up to the top of the railing at both ends and you'll have the perfect angle. Picture shows it with the additional bracket.

Internal threaded socket is very weak and flimsy. Broke while I was using it and caused injury. Not a safe product.
