Steven Universe: The Complete Collection (Repackaged/DVD)

This show is so great! I bought it so I can have it forever

I love finally being able to have my favorite TV series on DVD! I grew up watching Steven Universe (it deserved so much better than cartoon network was willing to give it) and I find myself rewashing it enough that the DVDs are definitely worth it! I think more series and movies in general should be available on DVD or Blu-ray, especially cartoons because they seem to be disappearing so quickly nowadays and they deserve to be preserved. Not just as entertainment, but as an art form as well.

So, the disc holders aren't even attached to anything so make sure you open it flat otherwise they're going to all fall out at once, and it's really trash packaging. It held up to being opened exactly 1 time and now won't close again. But I guess the discs are all there.

When I heard about this repackaged collection on social media some months ago, I decided to pre-order it, and I'm glad I did. The case itself was not damaged or anything and the discs were in fine condition. While I could have ordered the other collection, which is still for sale, that does not include the movie, nor the limited series which capped the franchise. So, that tipped the scales, for me, to purchase this. While this has a lot of discs in one box, they are well-packaged, much better than I've seen with some other collections of CDs for long series. To compare, with the DVD box set used for Cardcaptor Sakura, they are packaged tightly in a box and hard to remove without breaking them. That is not the case here. I do wish it was a Blu-ray, but I'll take what I can get with DVDs.

I became a fan of the series the moment I watched it on Disney+ through Hulu a few months ago.

What is the point of the re-packaged version while still selling the original? Warner Bros could have taken the opportunity to release this in Blu-ray, but chose not to. It’s really sad how they look down on cartoons so much they won’t even put in the pocket change to release this in its true form. If you’re not looking for a VHS retro look or just to collect it, this isn’t for you.
