Old Paratrooper
I just received my knife from UPS and am writing this just after opening the box and examining it for the first time. These are my immediate impressions. This knife meets or exceeds most of my expectations. I have several HOKC knives, the Gecko and the T-34, others. I love them all. Very well built. Sturdy, functional, very Russian. This knife is no different, It's a large heavy knife with a perfectly shaped blade. The balance point is back about an inch or so into the handle. Fits and feels great in my big hands. The squared handle edges don't seem to be an issue. The blade is pretty sharp. I will touch it up with a fine grit steel and in five minutes or so it will be scalpel sharp. It's a little tight, but a drop of oil and some working in will have it opening pretty smoothly in no time. I don't know how I did not notice that it has no pocket clip, so that was a disappointment. Other then that, I am very pleased with my purchase as I expected I would be. Thank you HOKC. Dasvidaniya Tovarisches!

Unique and really well built, the thumb stud opens it quick and easy with one hand smooth as butter!
Wow, love this big knife! It's thick, sturdy and really well built, the blade (AUS8) arrived razor sharp, it's perfectly centered and locks up with zero play. The wooden grips have an awesome "gun grip" checkering and they fit the hand comfortably and are great with gloves too. The extra large thumb stud opens it quick and easy with one hand smooth as butter! It also has a secondary back-up lock you can deploy if desired as an extra safety for hard use situations. Just a really unique cool knife, love the fuller that's machined into the blade and the jimped thumb ramp.I don't find anything bad about this knife however the first one had some scratch marks on the blade so I returned it and they sent out a replacement right away, the blade has a very nice unique matte satin finish that I like, but apparently may show scratches more than usual. I read another reviewer stated the handles are too squared on the edges and I agree to an extent, however It's not really an issue for me, I'd call it a characteristic of the knife more than a con, I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't read that review. Also keep in mind there's no pocket clip, I was lucky to have a hand stitched leather sheath laying around that fit this perfectly! I'm real happy with this knife for the price.

Feels good in hand and well made
I have been using this knife daily for a couple of weeks. I am a knife guy, I always have one on me and use it frequently at work, play and for household tasks. This knife is well made, it opens and closes smoothly and has nice feel to it. This is a large knife, it is somewhat heavy in hand but well balanced, so it just feels good! It has a nice rubberized grip that is easy to hang onto, wet or dry. I sharpen my own knifes, this knife was very sharp out of the box and has not required sharpening yet, it is holding an edge nicely. This knife is not spring assisted, you will need to apply pressure to the blade button until it locks in place. It opens smoothly and easily and locks into place with a nice click letting you know it is ready to work. When you are ready to stow, the blade release mechanism works smoothly. My only complaint, I would like it to have pocket clip. Yes this is a big knife, but I would still carry it in my pocket if it had a clip. And in closing, one last thing, my knife came with instructions for a tube flaring tool. Odd.

True to spec.
I have handled Melita-k knives in the past. So I know how rugged these knives are supposed to be. This Hokc version of the officer folding knife is great budget option for edc, and then some. It has a tang lock to prevent accidental closing. The grip is decent enough to perform aggressive tasks. The blade shape is very common with russian duty knives since the 80`s. I have taken this knife hiking and prepped rockfish with it. You can't go wrong with is price.

Reliable Knife
The Pocket Knife arrived exactly as shown in the pictures, and everything in the box was perfect—nothing was broken, dented, or chipped. The packaging was nicely branded and presented, which I appreciate, as I have a soft spot for manufacturers who take the time to confidently stamp their brand on both the product and its packaging. This is how all quality items should be presented. For anyone considering purchasing it as a gift, this detail is also important since a plain plastic bag or blank cardboard box wouldn’t do.As soon as I saw this knife, I didn’t hesitate to order and try it. I’ve recently been gradually becoming a knife enthusiast and collector.I've ordered other knives from this brand, HOKC, and they have not disappointed me once. Just like the other HOKCs I own, this one feels very sturdy, and the craftsmanship is excellent. Even though it's supposed to be a simple, less expensive knife, it still manages to outperform most other knives in the same price range. It arrives razor sharp, capable of cutting paper with ease. You might want to strop it once or twice, but other than that, it’s ready to go right out of the box. It features a normal straight point and is made of black stone-washed AUS8 steel with thumb studs running on brass washers. While AUS8 is considered relatively low-end for knife steels, this is to be expected at this price point. Let me emphasize that there are actually pocketknives out there that are more than double the price of this one, yet they use steel that falls into the "trash" category, such as:3CR13MOV, 7CR17MOV, AUS6, 420J2, 440A, 440B, and 4116.These steels barely retain an edge, and just from cutting paper, you would need to sharpen and strop them frequently. The grip is very tactile without being too gritty or rough, made from a type of thermoplastic elastomer. The locking mechanism is a simple, common liner lock but works just as it should and with one hand unlike some other knives out there that made the lock in a way it's almost hidden from the thumb., plus liner locks are widely used and are praised for their hassle-free operation, making them perfect for folding knife novices and at this price range since these locks are cost-effective due to their uncomplicated manufacturing process, which offers a budget-friendly option. They hold up well for everyday tasks but may not endure under intense pressure like some sturdier lock types. The only criticism I have for this knife is that it did not come with a pocket clip. However, this is fine for me since I plan to keep it in an outdoor bag I have rather than carrying it in my pocket or clipped to my belt. Overall, it's a very great and reliable knife and i love the rugged design it has.
