The Yoga Mind: 52 Essential Principles of Yoga Philosophy to Deepen Your Practice

This is gold
I’ve been “doing” yoga 20 years and found this mini-encyclopedia to be a much needed reminder of, well everything. Because yoga is of course not just about asana. It’s refreshing to see the basic, the complex and the esoteric all woven together and explained with an appreciation for curiosity and lifelong learning. The intro says the book is for someone who already practices yoga but I think it’s ok for newbies who have open minds. I know I was intrigued from the moment I took a yoga class and would have loved to have this compilation back then.

Ehhh…
I don’t really like the tone this book is written in. Author assumes you will be absolutely bewildered by any and all yoga concepts and talks down to the reader. At other places it’s just a bit cringey…at one point it says “Enlightenment, baby!” or something like that. Yikes. It’s not my preference but some may like it or think it makes difficult concepts more accessible. I’m also not sure who the intended audience for this book is: I certainly need something more in depth as a seasoned practitioner, but newbies in the reviews are saying it’s not descriptive enough for them. Kinda just a miss.

great intro book
I was looking for a book to explain the philosophy of yoga in a way that a novice can understand. It’s laid out well and presents the info clearly. It also gives plenty of resources and books if you want to further delve into specific topics.

Absolute must read if you’re ready for more than the physical aspect of yoga!
Wonderfully written - easy to read and understand. This book gives you a basic understanding of the many aspects of yoga. For a long time I thought yoga was the poses, as I became more curious I came across the term yoga philosophy. I began trying to learn about yoga philosophy not having any guide as to where to start and coming across many books and subjects that are somewhat hard to understand without having any background information. This book gives you that and more! She gives you the perfect beginner guide into yoga, with a basic understanding of the origins and the core principles of yoga! I now feel ready to truly delve into and deepen my yoga practice! Thank you Rina! I wish I had had this book a lot sooner, I am truly grateful for it now!

Not quite what I expected
I think the style of this writing just doesn't appeal to me. I had expected a bit more practical information I could use in my practice, but haven't really found that.

Helping your buying decision – Note: 5 stars given as amazon requires a rating for all comments
There are two formats for this book: Kindle and Paperback. On the latter, you'll find 8 images from within the book.A quick flyby of these will aid those on the fence as I was.Going by solely those 8 images, I decided to purchasegiven it appears the Author has done what we too often fail to appreciate:Essential insights distilled from a subject that might otherwise too easily overwhelm.Hence probably more valuable as an introduction or for those seeking a brief for reflection.

Very simple
Very simple. Good for someone who has no idea about yoga which is such a vast subject. I didn't like the way it was written though, but that's personal.
