Mangar - Bathing Cushion (Battery Powered)
R**R
Practical, unobtrusive and works very well.
This is an excellent solution if you need help getting in and out of the bath but don't want to fill your home with ugly contraptions. You can simply pack it away in a cupboard when you've finished with it. I imagine it would also be useful when travelling as it is completely self contained and portable. It works in a normal, unmodified bath and the compressor is powered by a rechargeable battery. Not only does it lift you into and out of the water but it also helps you sit upright after you've been spending time flat on your back having a good old soak because the substantial rear cushion is the first part to inflate, pushing your back upward and forward. For me, the only niggle (and the reason I never gave it 5 stars) is the non-slip finish. I realise this is a deliberate design feature and on balance, making it as difficult as possible to accidentally skid off the lift is probably a sensible precaution (!) but I do find it makes it difficult to transfer for someone like me who has difficulty lifting themselves. The instructions say "place yourself on the centre of the cushion" but this is easier said than done when you're trying to slide sideways across a cushion that grips your bum like superglue! Something with a lower coefficient of friction would suit me better. The same feature makes it more difficult to slide down the bath to get your shoulders under the water and to slide back up again.Still, all said, this product is a great boon to me and has allowed me to have a proper bath for the first time in years. (I do get showered on a regular basis though - honest!)

good value
does everything we wanted it to do, & good value.only drawback the suckers on the bottom are unable tomake contact with the bottom of the bath.the bath is an old, but good condition steel & enamel bath.

I love it!. It works well and carries my weight without effort and gives me back the joy of having a proper soak!
Bigger and heavier than I thought it would be, but it is now installed and tested with a dry run.It works and holds my weight well, though it wobbles a bit while rising - I had to hold onto the bath while descendinginto the bath, and the design means I can wallow in warm water- Yay! :-)No problems when inflating the cushion to get out either, except for the bouncy castle effect already noted. It continued to rise clear of the bath until it hit the limit of inflation with a hissy woosh! It made getting out of the bath easy-peasy. Its magic, and means so much to me.Used it last night, for real for the first time, and oh the joy of being able to soak properly for the first time in ages. So, so enjoyable, words cannot describe the pleasure of it. Even better than sex (what ever that was). However I digress:- Some things to watch out for :-It is relatively easy to get in to the bath, but give some thought to getting out. Make sure you have hand grips or some kind of device to enable you to stand up afterwards, and while on that subject use a mat because if can be difficult to stand on a slippery bath floor, and a bathing accident is not nice. This specially applies if you have used something like Badedas or a Moisturising lotion in the bath. Then it is Very Slippy getting into the bath and out! Check that rubber suckers on the cushion have fully stuck, i.e. once the cushion is reasonably full check that it is stuck down and not floating, if not - give it a firm push so that the suckers stick! On the 'bad' side, The airflow motor unit is quite noisy, it sounds like a road drill compressor, so having an early morning bath is not really on because you would wake up the whole house!!! But as its only me and my wife in the house .. I guess I won't be taking too many early baths!.Please read the two instruction manuals properly and keep them safe for future reference. They look big but they are multi language and the 'English' part is quite small, so it won't take long. It's a very good lifter and I am happy with it. Simple to use, and simple to charge, and it literally won't let you down if the battery needs a charge!

Fabulous idea but poor quality control
Fabulous piece of equipment, works perfectly and cured shoulder problem caused by trying to get out of bath. Why not 5 stars? The pump only lasted just long enough to force me to buy new pump. Also I have had to buy 4 hand control units.
