We'll Prescribe You a Cat

A fun little book. No profanity. Looks like it might be of especial interest to anyone familiar with Japan or fond of cats.

Cat lovers will enjoy this charming collection of stories about how cats can change lives. It is translated from the original Japanese and I think some things may have been lost in translation because some details in the story were sometimes unclear. However, overall, I'm glad I read the book and would be interested in reading the next in the series when it comes out. There is a bit of magical realism to the book which becomes more evident in the last story.

I LOVE 💕🤩this book! I’m a cat lover. It’s fun for any animal lover. It’s composed of 4-5 short heartfelt and fun stories! I don’t know the author but I wanted to encourage her to write more of these books! I also thoroughly enjoyed book 2- “We’ll prescribe you another cat”. Please please write a third and fourth book….

This is a magical realism book written very simplistically. Five different stories that somewhat intertwine about people with various issues that go to a very hard to find clinic that may or may not really exist. With each visit the doctor prescribes the person a cat to keep for a week or two. For the most part their issues resolve, thanks to now having had a cat in their lives. I liked the premise of the stories but never really connected or became invested in any of the characters, including the cats…and I like cats.

I loved everything in this quirky story! Each cat/patient pair was memorable and heartwarming! I’m looking at my own cats with fresh eyes!

Cat lovers will enjoy this book. Very unusual story line.

This is a very sweet book for adults; translated from Japanese. I've purchased several copies for friends. It's poignant and clever.

I already want to hold my cat close, but this book makes me want to hold her tighter. One of the most wholesome reads. very funny, got a tear out of me. can’t wait for the third.

Autorka wychodzi poza znany nam schemat, gdzie w literackich kołderkach z Japonii wałkowany jest temat straty, a krąży wokół zdrowia psychicznego. Ujętego w sposób, który tkwi na granicy bagatelizowania, a wszystko dlatego że lekarstwem na problemy dzisiejszego świata okazują się... koty. Kim jednak jestem, by to kwestionować, skoro i w mojej terapii miały one znaczące miejsce? Ważne, że w tych opowiadaniach się sprawdzają, a klinika doktora Suda Kokoro nie jest kliniką psychiatryczną, więc nie oczekujemy od niej fachowego podejścia. Pojawia się i znika, znacząco odchodzi od normy. To miejsce niezwykłe, a niezwykłość ta nie jest niejasny pomysłem autorki i jej koncept ogólnie mi się spodobał. Jak cała reszta. Była to jedna z ciekawszych powieści z tej półki. A wydanie w twardej oprawie? PIĘKNE.

Ein sehr schönes Buch. Ich hab es meiner Freundin für einen Krankenhaus Aufenthalt geholt und sie hat sich sehr gefreut.
