I have used this product in my pond many times & it has been good in reducing the blanket weed especially in the summer .

Seems to be working to keep the water healthy and clean in my pond. I got it due to too much blanket weed in the pond, it seems better.

Top quality straw for my pond , have purchased this product before and find it best so far , nets are fully packed , extremely good quality straw and very competitively priced , I will be sticking with this supplier from now on

You get a lot for your money so I had to divide the bale into another net to use the correct amount. After a week it sank to the bottom of the pond and I can’t see it through the cloudy algae-laden water. About a month in now I think it hasn’t worked.

Used to prevent algae in my pond. Used barely straw for years. It really does work. You must give it time to breakdown to work and replace with new before it has fully broken down.

I ordered 4 of these for my recently installed pond (2 twin packs). Its my understanding they take several weeks to work. Made no difference to algal blooms in pond despite pond being first installed 6 months ago and no fish been added yet. My pond is lined with pond liner (not clay) and filled by rainwater runoff, so there should be little other nutrient enrichment sources.These bales were added before any algae actually appeared, and when blooms did appear, they grew all over the bales. Overall a useless product despite the price

In theory you just drop these in your pond and let them get on with clearing the algae. In practice, they do seem to clear the algae but drop lots of bits of straw into the pond as they breakdown. Some bits float so can be scooped up with a net, but lots fall to the bottom. Some of them get sucked through the pump and go towards clogging the filter and others just stay on the bottom and will rot down, contributing to the general sludge that you then have to remove. We have, hopefully, had a brilliant idea and have popped the bales into a fine mesh bag. This stops them shedding. Only time will tell if they still do their job or if the bag will just clog up with algae. I will update this review when I know more

I was amazed when these arrived as I hadn’t checked size. The bales are about 3 times larger than the ones I normally purchase for a similar price. Value for money they were up there however it did leave me a minor headache as to where to place one whilst it weighed itself down into the pond water and became less obtrusive, easily remedied. And as it was so much bigger the other bale went FOC to the neighbours pond.
