The updated version for the SDL study guide has been amazing. The way in which the guide has certain key words that are bolded helps you to remember important concepts .

The book is easy to navigate. I purchased the SBL book a few years ago and found it extremely helpful. In fact, I passed the assessment because I used that book to study. I am hoping for the same outcome with this book for SDL. So far, I have used this book to prepare a guided notes sheet. The headings make organizing my notes very easy. The information in the book is directly aligned to the test descriptors from NYS.

I purchased the School District Leadership and School Building Leadership Books and the texts were exactly the same. I feel that the information covered in the SDL test prep book should have focused on the function of the Superintendent, the connection between this office and the school principal and other facets of that office. Instead, it reiterated the role of the principal in guiding and organizing the school for success. I also noted that there were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors that sometimes hindered the readability of the text.On the other hand, the practice questions were different. I found that some of the content was similar to the sample questions posted on the NYSTCE website and offered clear explanations.

This is the second copy of your School District Leader Test Prep Manual. I keep one at home, and the other one I take with me wherever I go, so that I can always refer to it. The answers and explanations section after the practice test is especially helpful because it provides a rationale for why a particular answer is the best possible choice. There is so much useful information that I'm confident I will be over prepared for the test; which is great, since I don't like taking tests.

I read other reviews about this book. I passed the first part of my SDL and did not pass Part 2. I would suggest using the Mometrix study cards, as they are a better option and are more detailed. Another option is to partake of the practice tests on the NYSTCE website.

I felt that this book was well-organized and the test-taking strategies were very helpful. Also, the practice test covered a lot of relevant information.

I purchased many practice exams and study guides. In addition to the one from the NYSTCE website, this was the only helpful item I could find. Do not waste your money on other practice tests online. Just get this book and dedicate time to reading it carefully.

I recently took my Administrative Certification Tests for New York and this book was extremely helpful. I highly recommend it as it had a lot of information which was relevant to the test. This was recommended to me from one of my grad school teachers.
