O'Neill Teen Reactor USCG Life Vest

Let me start by saying I've bought and owned dozens of neoprene ski vests, so I've got a lot of experience with them. I bought 2 of these for my kids next vest and have to return both of them. Who is making them has NO quality control at all. Both vests have fabric sewn incorrectly around the bottom zipper and it is so tight, it is almost impossible to zip them. Not only can neither of my kids can do it themselves, my wife and I cannot get them to zip. It took me about a good 10 mins and many cuss words the other day to finally get the one to zip. Forget the other, its even worse.It is completely obvious this was made and shipped without being tested. I will add a picture.

I have been looking for a Life Vest for my 8 year old, who weighs 80 lbs.The adult vests are too big and the youth vests are too small. I thought this "Teen" vest would be the right fit as it states 75-125 lbs. We could not zip it up on my 8 year old. The vest is also very heavy..it felt like very good quality, but the sizing is off and the weight of it would not be comfortable when out boating in the hot summer sun.I wanted this to work...sadly, I had to send it back.Also, the size on the inside of the jacket says "Adult XXS" not "Teen"-

This is a great vest for kids and teens over 90 lbs who aren't ready for an adult life vest. Kid reports it is comfortable.

Much bulkier and less flexible in the front than we’d hoped. Bought for a kid that loves wakeboarding and wakesurfing. It looks nice. Seemed fine as far as quality, but didn’t like the functionality of the design. I thought it would be sectional, but it is actually 2 thick pieces of foam in the front. The back is thin and flexible but that’s moot when the front is so bulky. 12 year old son wanted to like it, he didn’t want to complain, but his face said ‘please Dad, don’t make me wear this horrible thing’, so we returned it. We’ll look for one that is more flexible for water sports and general comfort. The children have to wear them all day long on the boat.

My 11 year old is about 92 pounds. The adult life jackets are too large for him so I paid a premium for this teen jacket. First, it was tight on him, even though the weight limit was up to 125 pounds. Second, I don't know if we just got a defective jacket or its the design, but the zipper was very difficult to zip up. It took 3 adults to finally get it to zip up. Finally, after about 45 minutes in the water, my son, who was wearing a swim shirt, was covered in rashes anywhere the jacket rubbed against his skin. This item is definitely not worth the price we paid. I will be returning.

Great fit for our thin but muscular 10 year old son. The women's extra small PFD's were too big and the XL child sized ones were to snug. This one is great, however I doubt any teens could fit in it. I would say it is more appropriate for kids age 8-11 or small 12-13 year olds.

Our son is 11 1/2, just hit 90 pounds, and tall. A string-beany kind of guy. The vest is a good fit. We do a lot of boating and this vest gives us options - good for keeping him warm, secure and comfortable for fishing, good for keeping him safe on the tube. One advantage is how the belt is tucked away in the vest - no tangles. Zipper worked great. Overall we are very pleased with the purchase.

This life vest is super heavy. I like the hi-visibility. It keeps my son afloat. But it’s weight makes him uncomfortable when wearing it out of the water. Plus it’s HOT to wear. In Florida summers, it’s too hot and we had to find something else that was made with regular foam and nylon fabric instead.

Awesome product and the size is perfect for an 11/12 yr old. Nice and bright too so it stands out when we are out on the water
