Unit works great! Keyboard not so much.
As usual, the Garmin GPS does not disappoint for the most part as far as features go, but the split screen keyboard is awkward and cumbersome. Makes no sense to have it that way. Honestly I would not buy another knowing how the keyboard is, but am keeping this one since it’s already installed. Perhaps using voice or map searches makes things better, but the split keyboard really disappoints. Still overall the unit is solid and has other great features that make up for the lack of a good keyboard setup. The quick release bracket and weatherized/ruggedized housing is really nice. Includes plenty of mounting options and proper wiring connections. Did I mention that I really don’t like the keyboard? Other than that, it’s a great unit just the same.

Nice little unit for the money, will get another real soon for my other touring bike.
I should have gotten this long ago after going thru so many car units for my bikes. The Motorcycle units are much better for motorcycles and the mounting hardware is awesome. The unit took a little time to settle into the cradle and would cut off a few times after initial installation on my bike with it being a buzzy little single. but after a few rides it is now rock solid. The adventure riding mode will take you thru neighborhoods if not set correctly but is so fun when your just out riding. nice unit.

Overall, a great little GPS for a bike
I'm a motorcycle tour guide, and need this for business. Garmin has always been solid, and for the most part I love this little unit. The touchscreen is great, and it has nearly every road I'd want to take, except for some really funky side roads which it can struggle with. The maps are good, but not great (its not google maps, if you're used to those). It has nearly everything you'd want, but falls short on some of the details. The PRO's: Price. For a solid waterproof GPS that can take a pounding, its hard to beat.- Ease of Use: really easy to use, with some nice features. The live traffic updates are useful.- The RAM mount ---- I love that they added it, and it mounts on nearly any bike out there with standard sized bars. The CON's -- The software sorta blows, if you're planning out a long trip. Basecamp could use a serious upgrade. IT works, but you gotta dance to make it work. Whomever said its straight out of the 90s was dead on.- Your settings will overwrite things sometimes and change your routes. I didn't like that part, and had to put in my own, extra waypoints to keep me on the routes I wanted to ride.- The mount: its killer if you want to hard wire it to your bike --- I didn't. I use an AC Adapter so I can move it to another bike, and ended up sawing a corner of the mount off just so I could make it work with a standard AC adapter. that part, could have been thought out a little bit better.I'm happy with it, it works well and has a lot of features. Its just a hair short of getting that last star which would have made me love this thing.

Durable, but be warned the unit will power on with it partially clipped in to the mount.
Completely my fault, but be warned the unit will power on with it partially clipped in to the mount. I was in a rush and rode out with it partially clip in :( It actually stayed in place for about 45 miles then it popped out while doing 60mph on I-95. Stopped quick jogged back, the traffic was busy but I was able to retrieve it. I think I even saw a Semi run over it, but again it was busy. Some slide and bounce marks but the screen looked OK.I plugged it in to it's bracket, this time making sure it was completely snapped in and it worked fine! Since then I've used it over 10k miles and generally very pleased and it appears to still be waterproof after it's fall.Negatives:The what is ahead on my route function is great though not complete ,i.e. all gas stations were listed. But then I also find this on BaseCamp.A bigger negative is that when importing a route from BaseCamp it ignores my speed preferences. I like to choose a slightly slower speed to account for time at gas/eats. It also recalculates the routes even when I tell it to import routes and in the process it looses the pulled and placed changes I did to the route in BaseCamp. So every turn away from the base route must have waypoints not just those little dots. Also the ODO reading is microscopic for older eyes, but I got the RAM mount close enough if I squinted a bit :)
