Birds of the Indian Subcontinent

Best buy for advanced birders
An excellent and exhaustive compilation of information on birds of Indian subcontinent. Not a bird for beginners but for those who are more interested and committed definitely worth it's value in gold. It has very detailed coloured drawings ( no pictures) explaining the subtle differences between species, sexes and geographical distribution. A must-have for identification and research. If a bird exists it has to be in this book!! With all taxonomic names and classifications

Letters are too small
Pros:- Page quality is nice. Good feel- Very good illustrations of male/female/juvenile.- Maps and it's color codes - very nice. Also e.g corroborated the fact that the Oriole is a resident in Chennai though it's a migrant and a non breeding wintering bird in the rest of South India. The famous app didn't give that detail.- Info such as the oriole song is beautiful was not listed in the famous app. Only the shrilling call was mentioned in the app. So this info was good and I could corroborate.Cons:- And I know it's just a reference book but still the lettering is super small. At times oolne will have to click and zoom on your phone especially the map which I had to to distinguish the wintering blue shade to the resident green on an overlapping region. This could be a deal breaker! May be a Kindle Version? But I like real physical books with colored illustrations.- Behavior on one bird species I found was lacking. The Pied Kingfisher's unique hovering in midair and a vertical dive is not contrasted to the other Kingfishers. But this is a minor good to have. Other descriptions on the Kingfisher was super accurate.

Surely a great book for bird enthusiasts and bird watchers. It's a quite thick book with lots of Indian birds. It contains information about many birds individually with texts and amazing colored pictures. Surely a must buy 💯💯💯
