Bought for degree research work. Very informative.

Prior to my "Marriage and Family Counselling" course in graduate psychology, I had very little knowledge about the Satir Model and I'll admit that I suspected I would find this book (and the model) somewhat out dated. Well, not only did I find this book incredibly helpful to understanding how I could become a more effective Family Therapist, I found learning about the Satir Model truly inspiring on both a professional and personal level. I have literally read hundreds of Psychology related texts over the years and this was one of my very favorites. I know that I will continue to refer back to it many times over the years.

Wonderful description of Satirs counseling techniques.

Easy to read, the book isn't overloaded with jargon and is a great place to start for a beginning therapist that wants to know more about the Satir Model. I like this model because I can use it with my individual clients.

Needed for a graduate school class. Definitely dated. Some useful material, some stuff that's too "out there" for me.

Virginia Satir is an icon of early family therapy. This is a new look at the family system.

A great book! It has not only helped me have more of an understanding about relationships, it has helped me help my clients!

Worth the read.

Interesting study guide to a new/ different means of psychology

I am long retired, but am immersed in the subject of the sel-defeating and illogical behaviors of many or most of the people I interact with. My corporate management experience left me baffled at why so many of us act in ways that are opposite our desired outcomes. This has lead me to spend consierable time reading and discussing psychotherapy, systems and compexity theory, My reading has lead to the conclusion that most authors agree on the mechanisms, but attach the problems from different points of view using various models and phrases to support their approach.
