This is the perfect travel grinder. Folds up smaller than an aeropress and is well balanced. I've been using this daily for a few months and it's been perfect.

It's lightweight and reliable. I like how the wooden handle clicks onto the bottom when it's folded for travel. Has a good hand feel.

I positively adore Snow Peak's aesthetic, so when my hand coffee grinder broke I didn't think of buying another brand than this one. I got it, used it, and then read the reviews here.What a mistake. As was mentioned in one of the reviews, the crank handle is attached to the lid. When grinding the beans, this top gets HOT. Not pleasant. The grinder is ceramic, the same as in a $10 grinder. But the two major parts are not as well fitting as that $10 grinder. I returned the item. Don't waste your money.

I grind coffee, salt and pepper. With practice the grind adjustment can be mastered to give you super fine for pepper to coarse for your morning French press of java.

I love the Snow Peak brand and everything that I own by them has been high quality and build to last. However, this coffee grinder is not one of them. The design concept to keep the cap and handle inclusive causes the top to bind with the side wall of the hopper. This creates so much friction that you're unable to continue grinding until you stop and reposition the cap and handle assembly. If you are lucky enough to get a few turns before it binds to a halt, the amount of friction causes more heat than I want to deal with. That said, the grind quality and consistency is very nice and nice solid build materials, but I had to return mine.

Worked well for a couple weeks. Now it easily gets off balance and becomes impossible to turn/grind in a fluid motion. Very annoying when I have to stop after half a turn to rebalance. Also, as another person noted in their review, the metal along the top gets very hot during use. That may be the cause of the unit not turning well. I have an older grinder that I will go back to for the time being...

I purchased this Snow Peak grinder on 4 August 2018. I finally had the chance to use it yesterday and when I opened the reservoir to fill it with beans I found that it had already been used and it even had ground coffee and one intact coffee bean inside. Paying nearly $100 for a new item that was in fact used is disgusting. Unfortunately the 30 day return window has expired and I'm stuck with it.
