How will polyurethane effect this paint?

I made sure the paint was dry for a couple of days. Than used poly and it worked out well.

What type of primer can i use with this paint? Does Amazon sell it...

No primer would be needed. 2 coats of This would work great with a nice and clean surface

Can this paint be used by itself ?

Does this product work on laminate book shelf?

I covered a very old laminate desk with eclipse colored milk paint. It dries very hard. I sanded with 100 grit block before i painted it.
