I have to admit I was dubious before I bought this as previous ones I had seen you had to fill them with water then put them in the fridge. However, it really does do what it says on the box! The weight of the dog brings the 'coldness' out of the mat. You can actually feel the difference with your hand. I didn't think my spaniel would take to it because of the plasticky material and I was right BUT what I did was make a pillowcase style thin cover to go over it . Thin enough she would still get the benefit from the cooling mat. (made from an old sheet) I use it in the car for her and bring it in to 'air' it so that the coldness reactivates. A fantastic buy .

I bought 2; mats were large and heavy, and decent size for labradors. However, the covers were not up to the job. Mat 1 burst after a couple of weekends of use. Mat 2 ripped after about 6 weeks. Note they were in use weekends only , by two medium sized, fairly slim labradors. Very disappointed. Replaced with a different brand which thus far is fine.

these mats are cooler and more comfortable for the dogs than the wooden floor. one of the dogs pierced one side of the mat with its claw and scratched the other side, so a slight amount of the gel seeps out. I can't think of any solution to this as tape would just unstick again because of the gel. the dog that uses the damaged mat seems fine on it and only a little bit of the gel seeps out and it isn't toxic

Not very often nowadays that a product lives up to its hype but these cooling mats do. When I eventually managed to get my dogs off theirs (2 hrs) the pads were not even warm. Well worth the money, buy with confidence.

Do not be misled by the product image. I bought the XL size and there is no way a Labrador could fit it's entire body on the mat as the image suggests. I purchased this for my elderly Leonberger and knew he would not fit on being a giant breed - but he can only get his chest on, with all legs, neck and head hanging off the sides. It also is now covered in tears from his claws and the gel is oozing out. This product lasted approximately 3 days!

I've had a scruff mat for over a year now with no issues. Bought this as a second but it has ripped in multiple places and the gel is leaking out. I've only had it a couple of days. Returning for a refund. I bought an xl mat as I have a German shepherd, maybe it would be ok for smaller lighter dogs. It does stay nice a cool though just not very durable.

I am really disappointed with this product. Bought a much cheaper one last year and lasted the summer. This product which I presumed was better quality and slightly padded hasn't even lasted a week. Unbelievable!! I have an elderly dog and only used it inside the house and only put it down on the floor in the evening when I was around and yet I found a slit in it already, with the gel leaking out.

Cooling mat worked perfectly well but unfortunately within 2/3 weeks of the purchase it has been punctured in a number of locations (dogs nails) which has resulted in us throwing the cooling mat away
