I'm actually finishing the entire TUB of this protein powder!
I couldn't wait to try this since I'm attempting to not eat animal protein (of any kind) any longer. I tried this with just water (as I always do with protein powders) and it had a slight chocolate taste which was ok. I then "doctored" it by adding low-cal cashew milk, honey (just a bit, to sweeten) and about a half-a-table spoon of peanut butter and then it became amazing and smooth and flavorful. Perhaps some reading this would say that it "defeats the purpose" of adding calories through honey and fat through peanut butter but our bodies do need "good fats." Regardless, this is the FIRST product that has not bothered my stomach, tastes great (with the recipe I came up with) and that I have almost finished the entire TUB of product for. I think my body just reacted well to this product and, as an added bonus, I don't feel hungry (or crave sweets, as I used to) since beginning use of this product. Now, at almost six foot tall, I feel like I'm able to provide my body with the protein it needs, without guilt!

great tasting, affordable vegan protein powder
I really enjoy this protein powder. I don't drink whey because I often have a bad reaction to it (my stomach doesn't like it) and so I am left picking from vegan options. I like this protein powder because it has a good flavor - sort of like chickpeas and chocolate. OK it's not an ice cream sundae, but I'm drinking this for the protein, not as a treat. It's a little grainy but that really doesn't bother me. I will continue to buy it when the price is low, because for the price it's an excellent protein shake. Not sure if this is a complete protein though.

Not bad....
Update; been using this stuff few months now and found while doing a Keto diet, this stuff works very well. No Xanthan, guar, or other crap gums so easy on the digestive tract. I have also found it cheaper on other websites so I'll alternate between here and there depending on price. I have found lucky vitamin sells it $10 cheaper but not all the time. I usually gag when it comes to vegan protein shakes. I mean they're usually awful. However, this one isn't bad. Doesn't taste like a frosty or cookies and cream like all those artificial ones do but if that's what you're looking for, you'll have to buy the fake flavors. The last time I bought a very expensive vegan protein it was so bad, so awful I decided vegan wasn't for me. But being allergic to dairy I don't have many options. So I decided to try this and I'm impressed. It mixes very well, very smooth. I used a small hand wire whip and that got the job done fast. I like that I only need one scoop for the amount of protein as I really hate thick drinks. This stuff thickens up nice but not too the point of trying to drink clay. Happy with purchase, will buy again

Fantastic ingredients, taste is not preferred
I have loved every About time product that I have ever purchased. I bought this protein based on my previous experience with this company. I am particular about the ingredients in products I consume, as well as the source. This product is great, except for the taste. I am usually pretty good about just sucking it up if I don't prefer the taste of something. If it is good for me, I just deal with it. But this protein was very difficult to get down. Even when blended with a banana, cocoa powder, peanut butter, frozen fruit, etc. Nothing I did made it manageable for me. It was chalky and almost musty tasting to me. Great product, but the taste is not preferred. Give it a try yourself if you are looking for quality ingredients. You make like the taste better than I.

Great stuff
I've gone back and forth with this and Plant Fusion because of price fluctuations, but keep settling back to this - for one thing, it doesn't have fructose in it. They both taste ok to me, the Plant Fusion may taste a little better, but this feels "cleaner" - I can't really put my finger on it. If you are mixing with water, the vanilla tastes better if you add some juice or Dasani drops to it, to give it a little different flavor - I love it this way. I also prefer this brand because the nutritional package as a whole just can't be beat. It is better than anything out there for the price. I just got a flash on my browser page from Amazon promoting Orgain as a better bargain, but that doesn't take into account that a serving size of the Orgain is two scoops while a serving size of the About Time (or Plant Fusion, for that matter) is 1 scoop, so no, the other is *not* cheaper (Amazon - are you listening?). Being a vegetarian, I also like that this product has iron and calcium in it. Getting enough iron is often an issue with my diet, and I'm currently avoiding dairy to see how it affects my system so the calcium is a help. The only thing I'm not too much of a fan of with this is that it *is* gritty - I don't mind that so much except it tickles my throat on the way down and makes me want to cough for just a minute after drinking this. Making a thinner drink by adding more water seems to help this quite a bit. YMMV.

A plant based protein powder that I like
I have issues with whey based powders and I went on the hunt for a vegetarian protein powder. I use it for fruit based breakfast smoothies with some form of fake-milk, bananas and other fruit. I don't notice the grittiness in that mix and the vanilla flavor works just find - no off taste. I also like that it doesn't make the shake too thick -- I tried some soy powder for a while and my shake was like sludge. I do occasionally throw a half-scoop into a bowl of cereal and fake milk. The flavor is fine, but the grittiness is definitely evident. That being said, I still add it, so it's not too bad in my opinion. It is definitely a better experience if I shake it with the fake milk before adding to the cereal, but a lot of times I'm too lazy to do that. It wasn't anymore gritty than brown rice protein powder. From the nutritional end, I do like that this is a blend of different plant proteins instead of a single plant protein. Update 9/4: I opened a new container and it went from 4 stars to 1 My first About Time Vegan Vanilla was bought from a local retailer and that was what my initial review was based on. The most recent batch I received is a newer lot and it tastes terrible. The color, consistency, smell and taste are all off. I called About Time and complained. I was told that this product underwent a reformulation where the ratios of the different protein powders were changed. For the record, the last lot that I liked was Z714, exp 1115 - the new lot that I didn't like was Lot Y035, exp 0416. Maybe I'll try the local retailer again and see if they have any more of the old lot. I had bought these new containers in advance and now have missed my opportunity for returning them. For the record, Oxkam had a month long return window, which is very reasonable. I do not recommend this product any longer.

Product may contain lead exposure
Please read; this product absolutely taste great and is one of the most cost-efficient protein products on the market. However, I just noticed a warning label at the bottom of the package that says the product could expose you to lead and possibly cause reproductive issues or cancer. Please check the bottom of the back of your package for this warning.
